nice!

so overwhelming ♥ the "chinatown" scene alone deserves a game spin off. phat soundtrack. perfectly executed demo
Revision went off when this came on. Hard earned win!
video stalls right after the "loading" screen... there's some gray noise on screen (single frame). The music keeps looping and I can press "esc" to close, but video won't move.

great work!
Great visuals as always expected from Cocoon. Blade Runner vibes.
Brutal quality!
Am I the only one that spotted this?
That was... damn massive.. totally blew me away while watching on the stream. What for a beautiful piece of Demo-art!
Of course !
same error as jcl
Awsome! Slideshow on my PC though. Time for a new graphics card i guess.
A nice solid prod. Still, it somehow feels like a compilation of effects and music has that "one TB-303 pattern" feeling. Rulez overall, but I'm sure you guys can do even better. :)
same as jcl, 660 ti on win10x64
This seems to make a slight dent in cocoon's comfort zone and I hope that trend continues and we will see more diverse stuff from you in the future. Your tech is probably the most mature in the scene and I'd love to see it applied in new and interesting ways. The part in the screenshot, for example, was extremely well done and unique. I wish you had kept that up for the rest of demo, instead many of the other scenes felt demoish in a generic-unmotivated way and fell back into the cocoon trademark "dark green with some dirty white" color scheme which works well, but is getting a bit old. Another minor thing I disliked was the chromatic aberration which was way too strong for just displacing rgb channels and it shows that there was no real lens causing the color fringes. I painted over a section of a screenshot here to show how I think it should look if you really want it to be that strong.
If this great demo had been done by anybody else, I'd be totally ecstatic, but I know you can still do a bit better :)

Intro part is epic! The more "traditional" effects somewhat bored me but there still were so many beautiful scenes I really enjoyed. I also really like the music which fits perfectly.
And Cocoon delivered again!
Tried running this a few times, managed to get it to work only once in windowed mode at 1080p. When running fullscreen I have received out of memory errors from Windows even from a clean boot and with hardly anything running, ESC doesnt work, ALT F4 doesnt work, task switching doesnt work and nor does bringing up Task Manager, had to force reboot, twice. It crashes during loading, so I ran it windowed and it crashes with the out of memory issue, for some unknown reason it worked once at 1080p using the same settings which previously did not work, so I tried running it again windowed and it just crashes every time without any error message.
My specs: Win10 x64, GTX980 4GB VRAM, 16GB System RAM.
It's clearly a superb demo, which is why I am dying to see it in realtime :)

@keito i7 16gig 970GTX i have the same problems, but found just for now if you window mode 640x480 then it works everytime

looks and sounds nice, but maybe a bit long for the content?

I get a weird phenomenon when trying to run fullscreen. I have a 2560x1440 16x9 screen, but every 16x9 res I try (1280x720, 1920x1080 etc.) it goes fullscreen, seems to set the correct mode, but then renders everything in a 4x3 area in the middle, but with 16x9 aspect ratio on the rendering, making everything squished together.
Windowed mode works correctly, the windows is opened as a 16x9 window with the selected resolution.

mad wub on dis 1.. choked my system out a bit tho during scene transitions but it ran well for the most part. almost died transitioning to the skull at the end. :D core i7 4770k 16gb ram gtx 780ti
One of the slaps in the face Revision gave me this year
First place, bravo piment! :)
rocks!
The really well done Blade Runner thing there in the beginning deserves a special mention.
rulez
congrats
Evilbot is in this demo aswell! How sweet :)
truly amazing
awesome!
Does not work on my PC at all, windowed or fullscreen. i5-4670K @ 3.40 GHz, 8GB RAM, Win10 x64, GTX 760. Shows a black (noise) screen, then locks up.
wow
Worthy winner
Wow! Pretty amazing. The city scene from the screenshot was epic and very well done, was hoping for more of it. Rendering quality is wow overall. The only thing I didn't like was the terrain scenes at the end, didn't look as good as the rest of the demo.
Looks pretty awesome to me! no complaints
what cupe said :)
replicant eye candy rendering and some amazing scenes backed with soaring music, but ehm, is the FPS capped maybe? any resolution I ran it in, the camera path felt quantised and framerates dipped in strange places with a 970 .. don't have to wait for a final to thumb this up at all though, loved the blob with the repulsive red orbs too
Flybyish, very random (e.g. the Blade Runner scene felt completely disconnected from the rest of the demo), not so well fitting soundtrack (which is understandable based on Ntsc's comment above), hurried looking transitions.. But still, one can't deny the impressive quality of the visuals. Not my favourite from Cocoon but easily worth a thumb up.
Wow! Deserved winner. I was expecting exactly this. A polished awesome looking demo with good effects, great graphics and a soundtrack to hold it together. And you delivered. Worthy winner!
well deserved win, awesome effects, big respect!
The best parts for sure are the shapeshifting cube/sphere cluster scenes. and i like the metamorphing forms with blended materials/emissive a lot (starting at 2:45)
PC demo coding at its best - thank you cocoon.

Some parts are absolutely stunning (e.g. the one from the screenshot), but the demo as a whole was just awesome-looking incoherent randomness with re-used color schemes straight out of your comfort zone. :-/
Awesome, loved every detail in this :)
Pretty suitable soundtrack
Subtle effects/"history" integration
Nice effects!

I can say this is one of my favourite demos just for the rendering tech and the quality of visuals.
Unfortunately I can't get it to run very well on my machine (win7 64bit, quad 2.5ghz, 8gb ram, gtx970 364.72 drivers), the visuals pause for a long time on scene transitions which seemed to get worse towards the end of the demo until it pretty much totally locked up and the music started glitching out too. I realise it is a rushed party version so no disrespect, just wanted to give some feedback if you are making a final.
I can see how good it is meant to look in the youtube cap, that must be running on a beast machine though.

Great overall. Worthy winner.
PS: Doesn't run on my GTX7something.

Congratulations, fantastic demo (my only complain is visible pauses during transitions between the scenes, even on the compo machine, wth?! :) )
disappointed :-(
no timing(synchro) between effects, effects have no sense ones between others & the great Blade Runner part is spoiled by a helicopter without any real heavy gravity which looks more than a remote controlled helicopter than a real one. Too bad...

shitty music, dull and soulless demo.
Man, I really don't know about this one... The cityscape is spectacular, and dropped my jaw during the compo. What followed was the usual cocoon-fest that left me significantly colder. The landscape looks just ugly, and doesn't have any kind of scale. They brown fractal-ish blob with the red spheres looks excellent thanks to GI, but as far as the other "effects" are concerned I wasn't very excited. This indeed suffers quite a bit from the fact that the soundtrack was changed at the last minute. I'd be very interested to see a director's cut of how this was originally supposed to be. I'm still just left hoping this demo would be just set among the visuals of that city...
Also trying to run this, it managed to spectacularly crash my entire desktop, graphics driver and SSH client(?). Possibly ran out of memory but I think I had like 3 gigs of free physical at the time.
Oh and pps. what cupe said about the chromabs.
What cupe said. Very nice none the less :)
The city scene was spectacular, the rest "just" the usual Cocoon demo. Also, dropped frames on the compo machine from hell, really? ;)
Still:

what noby said
Nice cityscape. Makes it double sad that it was followed by what noby so aptly named a 'cocoon-fest'. It looks pretty, but it's just effect after effect, without much rhyme or reason. And most of it seems to follow a vague theme of 'pulsating stuff', so there's pulsating cubes first, then pulsating blobs, and then a pulsating landscape, with some metaballs and spinners thrown in for good measure. Some of it is quite pretty, but somehow it's also exceedingly dull to watch.
Very strong, and I really liked the soundtrack! The only part I didn't like/understand was the distorted mountain-thingies. It felt completely out-of-place, unfortunately.
The Neo Tokyo cityscape made me weep. I just wish the helicopters had had real weight in their animations, that scene would've been just perfect then.
well done boys! awesome as usual! I love you! :D
people watching the demo can't imagine how much work you did during the party to make it looking so great during the compo :D

Great in every aspect, love the blob with emissive material!
I'd really like to see the original version that violated GEMA rules, too.

wow! great visuals. nice soundtrack. far east city and surgy landscape parts are awesome.
I am unsure about the choice of colors in the blobs scene but everything else was pretty much spot on. Sure, futuristic asian cityscape is not exactly reinventing the wheel but gosh, it looks fantastic! Cocoon once again manage to create that modern demoscene vibe their productions are known for!
Looks and feels very nice. Blade Runner-esque scene should have been either expanded on or taken out entirely.
Proper Cocoon-fashioned eye-candy!
Eye-candy indeed! Last two scenes should have been left out but I understand it had to do with the last minute change of music.
Love the Blade Runner scene. thanks for this demo quality. ☠
Mostly what cupe said. Interestingly tho; against all the other carefully orchestrated not-too-many-tricky-ponies in the various compos I found that unapologetic demoishness of it almost refreshing :)
Solid.
Most of the scenes feel very disconnected from each other. Also the city scene looks a bit candyish or glueish(not sure which word best describes it) and does not feel like a real city. But the techniques used were fairly nice and i really dig the logos.
i was expecting sooo much more from this first scene. apart from that, what cupe said, and really nice show. thank you.

we work on titan cards and no time to test it on other card.
This reminded me of a famous Triton demo :-)
This has such an awesome steampunk shading! And fuzzy reflections. Love it <3
What's not to like?!! :) Lovely soundtrack. Demo.
Chinatown scene was instant winner
Truly tech porn. The Blade Runner-scene made it all worthwhile.
Some insane scenes, a lot of cool effects, slightly dull mountains.
The experience is marred a lot for me by the performance issues though, in the compo as well as at home (I have a Titan Black).
Will reserve judgment for a final, I think.

What noname said
Decent. :)
No disputing the skills - and the effects are incredibly cool, but the demo did leave me a little cold because all of the parts seem a bit disconnected. Still, (big) thumb up and deserved win! :)
Really polished and some great moments. Something for everyone.. but it didn't feel disconnected for me
Massive!
Massive!
Very Cocoon. Worthy winner.
looks great (but is boring). overall thumbs up because the music fits.
I love Cocoon. Shapeshift showed why!
Solid. Feels like oldskool but in HD :)
music doesn't fit well with visuals
rocksolid
Awesome!
It kicks ass ! Lots of work & details, the city part is damn awesome ! As always the visuals are great
Most high end stuff leaves me cold. This didn't. It had a certain Black Lotus vibe to it.
Pretty! Needs moar sync though :)
(and less RGB separation, though I suspect it looked great on bigscreen)

The fantastic city scene is the crown of an overall solid demo, although a lot of it does feel a bit "by the book". Regardless, the 3D and the music were excellent throughout.
Great work as always. Nice Evilbot cameo :)
very nice; that scene with the spaceship would alone deserve the thumb.
what comes after is a bit of disappointment; still looks nice, but feels a bit rushed.

what the above 3 ppl said, but still a solid:
A bit disconnected, but great looking and inspiring and nice to see cocoon doing it more classical demoish than usual :)
Bit disconnected but but very deserved winner!
classical demoish as Psycho said.
no chance for me to torture my machine on it.. had to watch it on yt
and yea.

Crashes here, memory allocation it seems. Awaiting final then.
Decent PC demo i guess but nothing special for me, still it is a thumb up for the work behind it.
Great city scene.
LOVE IT!
Moar of this city!!
a delicious demo effect-menu :-)
Cant wait for a final version to stress my Nvidia GTX970 with this nice prod! :)
this demo is like coffee with milk and I mostly drink pure black one.. but still enjoyable, terrain part is redudant imo... one real criticism generally to your prods Cocoon: it's unfortunate your works aren't working on clean installed Windows.. not so good for general scene promotion
this production is truly amazing ...
Unfortunately she stutters a lot on my computer
A final version coming soon ??
GTX 980, I7 4930 K @ 4,4GHZ

Was interesting. Not my Type, but a good one. Respect for it. And in some way refreshing.
Buggy as hell. Did weird stuff and then nearly crashed my entire PC. Win7 64, 2500K @ 4.7Ghz, 16GB RAM, GTX 660.
It crash immedialtely at loading. Win7 64, I5 2500 GTX970 8GB RAM
Cool , but not first place .
Some very nice scenes here, but disconnected from each other. Start was best. Music is a bit soulless and bordering on distorting in the mid-midhigh region :(
How did this won? :)
How did this won? :)
Cool
doesn't work here. i5, Win7, GTX980.
lovely
The final clearly improves over the party version. The comments some have made on the Blade Runner scene vs demoish shapes stand, although the possibilities offered by your GI are really cool. In this one I especially like the hot shapes.
doesn't work here. i7 2600K @4.5Ghz, Win10 64, GTX970.
I somehow felt quite aggressive yet very encouraging message towards your fellow sceners.. and I liked that.
oh! OH!
Blade Runner + various bumpy shapes :)

little story about the demo : i have to change the soudtrack 2 Days before the party (gemma....). the new music did two minutes longer than the old and in a rather different style
Whoaaaaa! Good job too! After lurking here for 20 years, finally something worth registering for so I can comment!! WHAT A FAAARKING AWWRRRSOME SOUNDTRACK!!!!!! Please tell us more about the tracker and composer please!
Bladerunner or Shanghai! Great!
Great Krautfreuer §D
The visual fidelity though.
absolutely killer demo.
the chromab in the party version is nasty though
technology changes and we still don't know how to show something better.. the only difference is that this one works flawlessly on GTX... now we need RTX just to satisfy Vulkan's need and next gen programmers' inefficiencies to fill the gap we don't have such synergy between coders and designers in numbers... anymore...
