boring 3d show.
sucks added on the 2001-08-23 23:51:50 by robotriot
i cant understand why, but i like it (:
hmm, there is something weird about this intro... i think it's the music leading up to the gfx of the girls... hmm, strange, very enjoyable...
Really good, nice work & design... Go Jamie Go ;)
Without a doubt the best 3D demo on Amiga. The 3D engine is unbelievable for Amiga. With nice music and awesome textures.
Quite nice indeed...
not bad.
I don't like 3D shows but this is best 3D demo and fastest engine on 060 Amiga.
Jamie rulez!!!
Jamie rulez!!!
...also music is great. this funky bassline!
I love it! :)
Yes, this rulez. Fastest 3D engine ever. I love u skarla!
Fast 3d engine. Some of the camera movements were a bit vomit inducing though.
not too exciting, and lacks the attitude from some of their earlier demos. very impressive though
Incredibly fast 3D engine but basically nothing more. Still rulez:)
Preety fast 3d engine!
fast 3d engine
...erm: good music and good graphics. :)

a true beauty, love the music.
Not really good for a 68060 and a little bit boring.
well I _am_ able to enjoy a 3d show when it's this good... texturing is very nice, models are simple yet nice too. loved the tune also ;]
always was fast, always was beauty ... and always was boring :( ... i prefer jamie's work in thuglife in its time...
Impressive engine and very enjoyable music
Simply fantastic
OK, I don't really like 3D shows, but I have to give a thumb-up for:
* Music
* Quality of textures and models
* Pace and design
* Code (really nice for 68060)
Damn it. I thumbed up a 3D show. I feel dirty.

I don't forget the blue bilinear objects. I don't forget it's the first fpu-3d-corrected 256 color amiga demo, 4 years after the PC area. I don't forget jamie used really tricky things to get the maximum of a CPU doomed by a low gfx memory. Amiga rulez !
skarla rulez !
skarla rulez !
I don't forget the first time that I'd watch this incredible piece of democoding.
piece of master code - and a fork in Zig's mouth in 1999 - he he I remember that :)
great code and great textures. Stuff doesnt look like it is converted from 24bit -> 8 bit without care.
Generally I hate 3d demos and this is a PURE 3d show! But it was so damn great coded.
Jamie was a fucking perfectionist of his own kind and this demo kicks arse for its design, textures, music and especially for its speeeeeeeeed on a 060!!

When this was released at MS99, it both the fastest and most accurate 3d engine ever produced on amiga. cool tricks like frame-synced c2p, c2p+vector math combos, bilinear filtering and also perspective correction made this one a really good demo which should have won the compo
To thumb it up or not? The code deserves it, without a question. It deserves three thumb ups. Or seventyeight. But other than that, it is nothing spectacular in design or artistic value. But I'm in a good mood today..
technically 100% ruling earned, the rest is kind of boring, the music is okay, the textures are good, overall the flight is only interesting for technical views. but hey, that 3d engine is AMAZING! for this the thumb goes UP! so the thump goes to jamie! :)
and yes, loaderror, he tricks so very good around with the colors...

Only 3D but oh so smooth!
I second scicco. Thumb up ONLY for the extremely nice code as the rest is utterly boring.
I somehow like this a lot.
Yes it has cool vektor movements and relaxed tune and shit.
For the engine
great textures, nice flight
so thumb up :)
Yeah, rulez!
Good prod.
Reminds me of Explora

It would be nice to know the polycount of the scenes really. I see this as the benchmark to be measured against when it comes to perspective correct 3D. Which is faster? This one or the Loonies engine?

Fantastic code, excellent textures, nice music and it's not THAT boring ;)
Looks better than many games from the same time.
very cool
Bit boring?
for the code I suppose, it really looked neat except for some polygon sorting issues (or clipping)
A bit boring indeed but the 3d engine kicks ass.
woha. how come I never watched this one before. amazing texture work! and as already stated by everyone; massive 3d-engine. not my cup of tea design though.
butter-smooth stuff...relaxing soundtrack!
RULES!
A jawdropper. And an immensely inspiring one at that. Probably one of the most influential sources of inspiration for Loonies demos in subsequent years.
very cool one
just would wish that the music was better ;)
just would wish that the music was better ;)
...
RULEZ!! Coder porn, what else do I need?
What's more, the soundtrack is just perfect. One of 3 demos I would take with me to the abandoned island. Plus a 1260. Plus a power generator. Plus Fuel.

Cult & undervoted. Impossible avant la lettre...
looks like half-life running on amiga.
The very best 3d engine on amiga.
Excellent engine and flyby demo. So many demos can be done in this engine.
Skarla please comeback!
Skarla please comeback!
.
at the time, this was incredible!
The best 3d engine ever done in Amiga
Very nice 3D engine for 060, but the camera paths are just horror.
A little bit too much PC'ish for an Amiga demo, but the 3D engine is great!!
Music was laid back, putting the rasterizer centre stage, great texture work helps out the relatively dull abstract spaceship scenes. Technically brilliant but artistically a bit bland.
Always found this one a bit short..
great engine, bad camera.
Quite nice 3d Show with good music :) Good work!
nice codework. Ends a bit to early
Encore!
Very fast and smooth as for 3D AGA :) Nice!
franchement... ça tue!
a must to see!

3d flyby, I prefer this one
The 3D engine.
I enjoyed this one very much back then.
This gives me a coderection
Best 3D engine for Amiga 68k + AGA
Cool!
as usual
Great 3D engine!
Great 3D engine, definitely better than smokebomb :)
Probably even better than 1st place.
Probably even better than 1st place.
Forgotten thumb for that delicious production! Great engine, 3d graphics and soundtrack. I'm still waiting for your - announced some time ago - new Amiga demo.

Kinda forgot about this one. Really impressive stuff! Need to watch it on real hardware soon!
Awesome engine and artwork. A bit too slow paced for my personal taste. But it was a great thrill to be in a competition with you.
Very good demo with very fast 3D engine. Forget the warning about running it only on 68060 - framerate is very good on 68040.
Obviously good engine, nice textures and passable music.. sadly wasted on a boring flyby demo.
nice
Very belated thumb up to one of the best 3d engines ever written for the Amiga.
Flyby killed technical impressiveness.
Nice relaxing 3d flyby on the Amiga
thumb for the tech, demo is boring
Hmm technically great even these days, but lacking in mood and design. Nice 3d stuff tho.
AMAZING 3D SHOW!!!
Hehe, I never realized Essence became Skarla. I even see similar 3d objects reused from older demos :)

It didn't, Essence was a much bigger group that recruited the guys from Skarla, you can read about it on the Essence page at demozoo :)
And still 25 years after it's release I can't think of a better 3D engine showoff on the Amiga, kudos!
