Not the greatest 4k synth but a first attempt :)

There's an installer version here if you prefer (sets file associations etc).

Used in:
Lesser
Muon Baryon

Not user-friendly...nice sounds take some play to produce and the synth is kinda tough to get used to. Keyboard layout is the ModPLUG tracker default, not FT2. Everything else in the manual.

Don't email me or anything about code being shitty or unoptimized...I've already moved on and started on Sonant 2 so I don't care :)

Though I WOULD be interested in some musicians who would like to help test the next version.

Side note...Gargaj called it "the best looking pain-in-the-ass I've had" :P

His .snt for Muon Baryon can be found here.

Also credits to Capcom for the MegaMan icon :D

It uses OGL for rendering...did you run it on a low-spec netbook or something?
added on the 2009-08-08 19:09:26 by ferris ferris
...It's obviously a texture issue...perhaps not enough texture memory?
added on the 2009-08-08 20:28:06 by ferris ferris
nice

ferris: i use a notebook, but i wouldnt call it low-spec :) gf7950gtx with 512MB vram, so should be enough for some gl gui basically.

but i dont really have a clue what it could be. recent gl-based demos/intros run fine.

i admit i had fun working with this, but mostly because of the unorthodox workflow (QWERTY should always be CDEFGA :)

you have way too much time judging from the screenshot :)

sounds and looks nice, i'd loved if it was realtime. looking forward to v2.0 :)

I'll give it a try later, but for now:
- the UI looks nice
- it sounds good ( according to the 4K that use it )
- I even like the name :-)
So...

somewhat hard to handle... anyway, still more intuitive than mine ;)

Really love this minimalistic synth!

If you wish to use Sonant for your JavaScript prods, there's now an online converter tool here.

Hmm... The download/ftp server seems broken. Any possibility of getting the ZIP up again?

I'm interested in porting to an embedded platform. Do you have a non-optimized C version I can start from rather than x86 asm?

buzzd: unfortunately no; it was written this way from the start.

Have to give this a thumb up. Its not the easiest synth to use and certainly not as popular as some of the others, but I used this to make a few songs and it works quite nicely if you are willing to put some time into it. I like that it has its own stand alone tracker and has familiar analogue synth style controls for making sounds. It is a shame Ferris never released an updated version as this has so much potential with just some small improvements. Anyway I thank you for sharing this with the scene.
