i find it fugly as fuck
On of the best demos ... why?

Because the artists have done exactly what they feel and not what may feel the viewers.

I wrote wrong in the sourcecode though at one part. In the comment it is a JL command and it says in the comment of it : "Jump if Larger".... Well actually I mean "Jump if Less". My bad, I apologise.

after the great success of the magnificient 32 bytes category, which basically saved the world, the next logical step in sizecoding is... tadammm! the one-line glsl pixel shader effect category! let me show off my newest great production:
Code: varying vec2 fuck; void main() { gl_FragColor = noise2(vec2(fuck.x,0.1*fuck.y)); }

This is not a demo.

And that's great because demos are generally horrible unimaginative shit devoid of any feelings.

This production - on the other hand - is near perfection.

to those who said this demo sucks, I won't go into great detail. First of all, you're close minded individuals. You think a demo is a set of balls running around the screen grabbing onto eachother, and that's fine. I enjoy alot of demo's of that sort aswell.. However, I have never seen such wonderful art.

Good to see that some people are creating something what 'They' want to create instead of trying to fit into a piece of software they is called a 'demo'.

I really like your support Pirx, and you got a good point there. If people don't like this, don't bother commenting. And it's true. What people expect is scrollers, balls and tunnels. Trust me I will get into that, but I need peoples support, or why will I bother releasing stuff later if I know people don't like it. Sorry guys, but its a fact.

Keep in mind that I have heart enough to release the optimised source with comments.

At least, something imaginative. I really love this piece.
It's a shame to see that the demoscene is being hit by the 'spectacularism' that already hit movies, books and of course tv. If your demo doesn't rock&roll, got bitches on screen & techno in speakers, then it's crap.

Synok, please forgive me. I'm sorry. I'll never do it again.

About your prod: let's be honest, it's not good, like all prods below 20 bytes. The smallest prods should be 32B, not less. Some people think everything below 4KB or below 256B is pure crap, I don't agree. Every category has its own sense and magic, only if done well, check for example dirojed, Klappquadrat, fr-0.1: constant evolution, Plain Monday. Try create something with similar class, learn from their sources, work on code harder.

Proteque, drug is called "I must stay at work the whole weekend, over 1000km from home and girl".

unic0rn, can you run the 13h dos prods normally under 7?
added on the 2009-02-15 20:10:47 by Pirx Pirx
unic0rn, you know you can press ALT + Enter to get out of the fullscreen?
Pirx: yes, all of them. funny, huh? maybe it's because of drivers, dunno. i have geforce 4 mx with xp (!) drivers, installed in compatibility mode, and everything works. direct3d works, opengl works, even all this 13h stuff works. weird.

STARDREAMERS: it's windows 7. didn't worked. after winkey-L (lock), and typing password without anything on screen, it finally showed my desktop, and i was able to kill it.
added on the 2009-02-15 20:21:40 by unic0rn unic0rn
already done the same (same) thing, but don't released it since i know it sucks big time and it's pointless, you should do the same with ur prods, try to polish them a little bit :)

added on the 2009-02-15 20:28:00 by unic0rn unic0rn
well, i think those small prods are really fun to make, you spend like, couple of hours and you get stuff immediatelly on screen. so i understand the fun you had doing it.

on another side, i already played and got similar stuff running, but i never dared releasing anything like this, i think it is clearly not good enough to be worthy..

Well... I can't give up because there's no esc key and the demo isn't so interesting, but I can't give neighter a down because the product is also under 32b and it's quite good demo programming.

Maybe you can do also better than this ;)

OK for 18 bytes but feels too familiar to other prods to thumb it up. I'd love to see something more from you in 32 bytes though.

Congratulations for making a production. Now, please, pay attention to what Pirx said.

Decipher, I can't find any 18Byte effects from Horror Terror Elite Legion. You can't quite compare us to them either since they never focus on specific stuff as Size.

And at least I would like to see something from you so I can be pleased to thumb it. :)
a bit pointless.
added on the 2009-02-16 12:41:32 by raer raer
what auld says.. (so rather spend some more bytes and produce something that could actually be called "effect")
added on the 2009-02-16 13:36:55 by toxie toxie
Okay but I didn't quite want to use up all 32 Bytes, because I wanted it to be smaller. The smallest possible. Sorry.
it's hard to make anything *valuable* in 32b, using less than 32b is kinda pointless. 1kb is something rather dominated by win32 intros, so make something inbetween next time. like 256b. it doesn't have to be revolutionary, it doesn't have to be 'wow, i never seen something like that'. if 256b is too much, try 128b - that's kinda nice category to make things everyone saw already, but never in so tiny prod. take a look at vyhen from Rrrola - that's a perfect example of what can be done in 128b. take a one or two well known effects, join them and code something at least partially spectacular. and take your time. demoscene is not a race - it's about quality, not quantity. we'll be here in a month. or two. trust me.
added on the 2009-02-16 16:33:28 by unic0rn unic0rn
pointless + what unic0rn said. If 128b feels too big after doing <32b code, 64b represents a good challenge to make a nice looking effect.
sucks added on the 2009-02-16 18:08:38 by p01 p01
unic0rn nailed it. Since Optimus did the zero byte thing I'm now only interested in size demos that are <0 bytes :)
sucks added on the 2009-02-16 21:29:09 by Mtl Mtl
