I thought it was a great mag and a lot of effort went into the contents. Design is quite nice and the music is excellent. Really enjoyed reading the interviews with Ra and Fairfax too.
As for the bad taste article...yes it sucks, but it's no worse than the stuff I see on popular websites from day to day. The whole puprose of it is to get under people's skin.

nevertheless, i accidently thought for some reason that my article was for the well renowned ZINE magaZINE. only when i submitted it, i realized what i had done. my mistake entirely, i did not get tricked.
guess i can't check it out on linux that easily so i will rely on your peoples exceptional judgement on these things for now. or not.

there were some articles which were a nice read (paniq's for example) but also a lot of uninteresting stuff and of course that one article... somehow I think you guys should just ditch Adok from the team.
I really liked the previous interface a lot more, for this issue the images representing the articles often looked distorted, the colour scheme (greyish blue) was simply ugly and times new roman... well.

ok articles, but i did not see any big scoop like the Fearmoths revelation from last issue. fill-in-the-blanks q&a interviews are too much retro. the presentation/selector is somewhat confusing with a mix of text and picture selectors.

i guess the offending article is already gone, because i couldnt find it in the mag. completely sad that it was included in the first place, but not entirely surprising (see: adok). the inclusion of this piece alone makes the editorial team look at best like idiots, and at worst like hate mongers. and actually i pity magic for having to backtrack like he did here.
so, it deserves a thumbdown on that alone, but lets try and be fair and judge on the rest. ill give you some kudos here for trying to improve the design and move it forward, and its nice to see more pictures/photos.
sadly, the interface seems like a kneejerk response to zine - basically copying as many superficial ideas from zine as possible to do easily (like section headings, a headlines section, large images for article headers etc), but completely misses the point of it.

I already read worse diskmags and Hugi issues, #35 is absolutely okay. I guess after all those years i just have to live with the fact that diskmags are utterly boring and usually fail to entertain bigtime. But that's not a Hugi thing.

A quick look through the articles suggests there's some interesting stuff, and the interface is somehow 'passable but with good graphics' - it works, but not particularly well, but it's pretty. The title picture looks extremely gay. Not listened to any music.

The release of this issue of Hugi is more than welcome - after all, it had been a fair while since the previous issue was released.
And it is, generally - a good issue, with some great writing in it too, along with the front end and more pictures than last time.
But there is also THAT article - yep, the one that this thread has largely been about ..
Whilst I don't personally agree with the generality of 'high-IQ' or 'low-IQ' people as expressed in the article itself, let me tell you that, as far as British people go, I have met more thick whites - while I can count on the fingers of one hand the amount of non-white Brits I have met who are thick. You only have to look at the site - http://www.chavtowns.co.uk - to see morre of the kind of people I mean.
I'm not including anyone I have met who has been or who still is part of the demoscene, as I am personally in awe of what everyone in the scene can and has achieved over the years with prods and friendly talk.
However, there is one part of the article that I do agree with - and it is the bit towards the end about the Islamic faith. Amongst my relatively low amount of friends here in the UK, some of them are gay - and I would not want to see them tortured for that - as they would be if Islam ruled the world. You only have to check out sites such as LiveLeak to see what they do to equivalent people - even if they are only suspected of being gay !

Adok and me agreed that there would be no more 'controversial' articles in hugi not from EP not from anyone. I blame myself for not paying attention to this article; 'article about intelligence' ok I thought.. Misc section isnt 'my thing' Demoscene related articles have my big interest.. I blame adok that he didnt tell me it was written under a psydonym.. (that would have gotten my attention I am sure, I will sort this out with Adok) I now know Unseen is the author of this article, atleast thats what Adok told me.. Yes you are right. Point your arrows at him. Not Hugi. (though I agree it should not be in Hugi in the first place)
As mentioned earlier I asked Adok to release a new version of hugi#35 without this article, this version was uploaded around 06:00 at scene.org and than spread further on..
For the next issue I will check the misc. section also because of this.

I like the first song a lot! But overall I'm perhaps getting too tired to even read diskmags so this Hugi didn't keep me interested very long. No thumb up or down.

The Fairfax and RA interviews are obvious plus points here, although overall I wasn`t very keen on this issue. I didn`t find a lot which held my interest.
Design wise I prefered previous issues, however it`s interesting to see new ideas being used here. The standard RA skin suffered a lot from having a nasty background colour which is maybe feeding the bad taste left with the new layout.

Magic, you simply can NOT point your finger at Unseen now. It's YOU guys, as the editorial team of Hugi, who have let the article IN. It's your job to have quality control. That is YOUR responsibility and your responsibility alone. And while you may not be responsible from a legal point of view (at least I'm guessing so), then at least you risk that your reputation goes downhill with such articles, just like the BBC can't allow an unresearched article to be published. Still, I'm aware this is "only" the scene, but if you lean yourself out of the window to reap the rewards for the good articles, you can't just close the window and say "oh no, the bad ones are out of our responsibility". There's no cherrypicking allowed.

I enjoyed the party reports, a reasonable issue on the whole with a lot of work by many people. The thumb is for that.

about the content: regardless if one agrees with the "points" the author made in his article or not, i think we can all agree that this type of garbage should definitely not belong in the scene. ffs people want to get away from all this shitty separatism and other real world issues when they're doing scene related stuff, at least i do. it's so great to see people from various countries coming together at parties, dicking around with each other and enjoying demos and other geeky shit together. it's a cheesy sentiment, but if a revolting, vomit inducing piece of garbage like this article could find it's way into our extremely small society then this has to be said as well.

I liked the diskmag encyclopedia. It's a nice travel to the past with diskmag I never have read before and may check in the future. Though not very complete. Wilby is missing even if Fuzzby and Obtain are there.

it's revised version is a good diskmag. I love the ambient breakbeatish track, some fairly interresting articles here and there. not bad at all. That article was poor taste and judgement on behalf of the chief editor.

Minus that completely racist out-of-place-for-a-demoscene-mag article, I thought Hugi #35 was okay. Not great, not mind-blowing Imphobia-class fantastic, but okay. Some of the articles are worth reading.

An apology which actually states what everyone has been saying. The only thing I can read from that is that he belives that the article is correct and he's sorry that everybody else doesn't agree.
The first sentence states that the article just is showing us the differences between human races and their IQ. He's not apologizing for the contens of it but for the outrage it created.
