Very nice and clean looking demo, good sound!
added on the 2002-08-29 07:40:04 by Crest
nice looking particle systems (what looks like either flock systems or chaotic attractors) .. some boolean operations on primitives, a rather unimpressive static scene and ending on a julia 4d set.
(atmospherical music to link everything into one thread)

yep very nice indeed.
sound was very very nice, although a little empty in places, but that seemed to fit i guess :)

Cool.
could have been extended a lot more, it looks more like an effects slideshow accompanied by some replacement-music. but the effects look really good, i don't know if they're difficult to accomplish :)
Very stylish and some fresh ideas on it.
Nice work.
Nice work.
I agree, clean indeed. Great atmospheric sound track.
Logos where non existent. Obviously missing a gfx artist in the group.
Good short demo.

as i heard from Flash, this demo became to be by 2 coders (Flash, Milo) they did their part of a demo each and finally they've merged it together on their session before the party. the musician (Panter) probably did his work also a bit separately so it was a big surprice they all achieved 1st place.
my opinion? as some of you i like the soundtrack and the particle effect the best. keool!

Oh yes. If you're a fan of particle effects like I am... The one pictured is particularly well done: it does look like flocking of some kind. Also look out for the "vapour trail" ones like in the second part of VIP2. Oh yeah, and that scene that looks like its made of a million little shards of glass - I think that's the most particles I've seen on screen, ever. :) Particle heaven!!! :)
yes m'am, I like it!
screw those 3d-scenes, I want me some more of those particles. how d'you like THEM apples?
particles in the beginning are moving according to simple gravitational equations, and as the 2nd contributor recognized, one of particle movements is based on duffing's attractor. number of particles is 20,000 in most cases.
crs: panter composed the music during a two week period. we were in personal contact back then. but yes, the merging session with milo's implicit surface raytracing lasted only 2 days before the party. but i must say i'm now rather contented with the result, much more than during the party.

relaxing
nice
Nice demo. Like everyone i enjoyed the particles and the raytraced scenes are nice too.
Imo the music fits very well.

cool music.
and raytrace was really cool!!

wikked!
wicked!
hue the music creates a very cool mood, love it x')
sweet, and relaxing, but not boring.
how did they achieve that?
how did they achieve that?
The music has a good sound, i appreciated it.
Some gfx really miss..
The code is so so, the sync fits the music, the marching cubes has ugly bugs and is a little slow here, rest is smooth. The textures are not bilinear filtered, looks a little bad.
the overall is ok, keep on working guys, i'm convinced this group can bring interresting things in the future ;).

And i realise i forgot to notice above that the particle engine is really excellent. nice work. =)
rulez
i really like the particles :-D
Yeah, this was good. Would've liked to have seen a few more variations on the particles, but oh well...
Great raytracing, great particles, great music. Well done.
There's one scene in there that I don't understand, though. Pillars, and a whole lot of static light-sources, and really, really huge polygons. It doesn't look that great, and I don't see why it would be technically impressive?

pretty cool
triangular-patterned [though static] shading on the 3D scenes were cool-looking. Great particles

yummy particle effects..rest is average
since when did particles become anything nonaverage at all? ;-)
very very nice!
great ambient demo, nice music, excellent moving visuals. me is tripping !
Quite nice. For reasons just tangible it reminded me of some of Contrast's old DOS demos.
excellent particle effects
ja!
to explain about the static 3D scene, the lighting was produced using a radiosity solution, and i was so much proud of it that i wanted it to be included, but i agree with you it could be made much more dynamic with some special effects. we quite ran out of time.
nice and original.
the particle stuff ruled
L O V E L Y. I want more...
simply excellent! The music was sooooo good :-)
So enjoyable... Fantastic job!
particles and radiosity scenes were nice, everything else was just fucking slow.
these particules effects are very beautiful and the music go with them
but the other effects are too static and didnt fit the particules design
and where are the transitions ?
the whole prod is too short, but for particules and music i thumb up

Short, addictive, well done. Great soundtrack and finally a radiosity I can believe it's true. Do it again...
Particles are lovely, and music is very nice.
The rest is not that good. IMHO, you need more "glue" to keep the demo together.

oh did i tell the particles rocked
sooooo good!
yep a good one ... i love the radiosity like rendering scene ... without gouraud it gives some interesting stuffs ... and we music is perfect for this ... good job !
just a heaven for particles-addicts :)
not for me.
not for me.
i completely agree with Zone...music and particles effects (moving like magnetic fields) are stunning, but the rest (whatever good it can be) doesn't mix well with them...it's breaking atmosphere
Blah, doesn't like my graphics card.
really sleek visuals
Gorgeous
calm, short, beautiful effects, good tune although it didnt fit me
Has interesting particles, effects with moody music and atmosphere..
It's all in the delivery :)
looks like i kinda missed this demo...
really nice particle fields.
some of those shiny iso surfaces looked fine, too.
those flat-lightened 3ds have an interessting touch, but do not attract me very much...
however, well done.

Good direction.
disjointed parts, some really good (yes, particles), some not. overall good material that could've been ace if some smart design decisions were applied...
One of those demo I gladly watch from time to time. One of my fav releases in 2002...
Feeling, music, graphics. One of my favourites ever.. and those particle potential fields (or something like that) were quite nice indeed. Great!
wot.. my comment disappeared? The particle fields are bloody excellent!
Neat, except for the flyby-corridor-part.
geilomat!
Relaxing atmosphere, and cool particles. A bit short tho.
cold, minimalistik, beautiful.
I didn't vote ? gotta love the beginning, the music and particles are amazing ...
the radiosity patch thing was allright, but those particles !! yummy

Suuper cool demo. Everything fitting perfectly together, the music is amazing.
Some good things there!
nice demo... coders' work :)
FLATFILLERS, YEAH!
shit ... somewhere along the line in updating detonators this one stopped working, is there a final version somewhere ?
weyland: the linked version is final, it runs fine with recent forceware drivers. you are maybe the first person who reports it doesn't run.
Great one! Nice mood and sync.
;P
Flash : I must've had the old one then, the version linked here runs like a dream again :P great effects !
This one is awsome! Great mood, great gfx, great sync and great music. One of my fav demos.
I tend to like this sort of demos, but the music, the almost-but-not-really-flatshading (hello, triangles that are part of the same quad shaded completely differently?) and the lack of progression kind of turned me off...
Great camerawork, great effects and great use of marching cubes.
And I like the flatshading scenes, too.

Lovely particles! A bit short, though.
damn best particles ever. i so love those. more more more!
Original eye-candy particles efects and scenes...3D grey flyby in abstract world imho dont fit to the overall design of demo
Still thumbing up......
Still thumbing up......
The 3D objects just destroy it for me...
<3
refreshing coders demo
WOW ( ! )
how could i possibly miss this until late 2005 ?!
SIMPLY GORGEOUS PROD!
ok, sorry for the excitement BUT IT RULEZ!

Nothing quite fits together. Although good in parts, its bad in others and there is no design. The same applies with the music, outstanding work although it seems to jump from part to part without any kind of transitions..
Still its worth a thumb up!

Wonderful geometry in this demo - graphics always going different places and very easy to watch. Also the bass was very friendly indeed. imho too much blobby action for cult status - but at least it was done really well. *smile*
Calming music and very moving particle effects. Too bad they spoil it with a bunch of dull run-of-the mill stuff including cubes and metaballs.
Now that's a awesome demo. Camera, music, visuals, all great! Kudos++
those particles blow my mind every time
shame on me, forgot this demo.
the particles <3

where is my thumb?!
Breathtaking atmosphere and superb soundtrack.
Beautiful particles system too...

Beautiful
A bit disconnected, but cool!
pure love..

Like the decent ambient flow. Cool music and love the particles.
