What can I say about this prod...
Good music, good effects, good code.
Worthy successor to Perfect Circle.

Thumbs up and respect

damn...

you are too good boys, that scene with white cubes is so beautifull...

amazing what is possible on the Amiga!
some Amiga-prods at ms2k2 can be compared with the pc-prods!

yay, this rocks, has a bunch of great scenes in it. i've made a divx of it, will upload it as soon as the server's back online.

The Amiga compo kicked this year, it's a long time ago that I saw so many impressive Amiga demos.
But I can't understand the *big* difference between this and the rest of the demos because there were at least 2 or other demos with the same quality level.
added on the 2002-04-03 04:21:19 by Crest Crest
kalms/louie et. al. are capable of more imho but still...
rulez added on the 2002-04-03 09:17:53 by superplek superplek
crest, the big difference is that this runs on a "classic" motorola cpu's, even if 060 is only one where it's fast enough. almost all other amiga demos released at mekka need powerpc and that's like... uhmm... almost like doing a demo for pc. :)

a big hand to tbl! perfect circle was already great, but this does it even better. respect.

ps. rubberduck: you owe me a beer now. :)
rulez added on the 2002-04-03 13:15:21 by melw melw
kalms and rubberduck wasnt too happy with the result of this demo but i still think that this demo looks good. nice work guys.

impressive!

I saw you working on this baby all night (like we did on our demo in Scarab ourselves) and I must say that I'm really impressed by the result. Nice and beautiful atmosphere. Louie: those textures simply rock! I am pleased to have you among the amiga-scene still ;) keep it up!

melw: Thanx, probably I forgot a notice like this from the big screen.
I hope, the video is not *to* big in size (no broadband access :( )
added on the 2002-04-03 16:18:50 by Crest Crest
great scenes: while being varied in themes manages to form an homogenous work.. the music works very well, and the code serves the demo perfectly =)

yeah, this demo rules, TBL is still kicking ass!

This has really raised the bar in terms of 3d engines, but I was really disappointed in the design - or lack thereof.

please note that the mpeg-version of this intro was slow by some reason, the real demo was much smoother when i saw it on the bigscreen at mekka

thumb up - eventho the overwhealming arrogance of "oops - we did it again" at the price giving deserves a punch in the ass ;)
nevertheless, this demo rocks hard.

the textures and scenes are really cool ( except the hair of the girl >__< imho )

great job

robotriot: Thanks for the .avi file!

I guess developing for the Amiga must be quite a bit of fun due to the apparent amout of effort that went into the Mekka releases. An '060, eh? Nice. Wish I still had my PPC/060 A4000, but I sold it 15 months ago to get this PC thing.

one of the greatest demos for the real scene amiga (060 + 68k).
looked awesome on the bigscreen, and still worth to watch it over and over again (unlike some pc prods from ms2002).
rulez added on the 2002-04-08 11:44:22 by teo teo
cool one, the design is a bit weird tho and it ends in a somewhat abrupt manner. for a die-hard pc dude like me 'perfect circle' had a little more wow-factor than 'nell'..
and I really don't understand why whoever added the screenie for this one took one from a single most unimpressive scene of this one (I mean, flat white cubes.. c'moo-on.. 8])

yo yo yo ....
This prod really KICKED MAJOR AZZ at mekka symposium this year! Great success for TBL (again!) and definitely deserved...

Although I would BADLY like to see some PC demos of 'em again! I remember 'CONTOUR' some years back which also showed that TBL has the _definite_ strenght to go strong on PC as well! (of course not to forget about those 64k intros like Jizz and Stash !!)

Great work guys...PLEASE think about a prod for PC again as well...the (pc) scene needs it as well! ;-)

Bye,
Weasel

Everytime i run this demo, i think my 68060 and old poor AGA chipset will go up in flames. This is pushing 68k AGA to the limits. Personally, i would have loved to see more 2D in it but still a really great demo.

bhead, look closer. They aren't flat white cubes. They're cubes with radiosity :)
added on the 2002-04-12 03:02:56 by Scali Scali
they are texturemapped cubes with a nice texture!
bhead: The screenshot is from the single most beautiful scene in the demo=)

blame me, i made the shot ;) i also liked them, of course that's not real radiosity, only great textures :D

Good work!

But, please, in next TBL demo (if deadline makes it possible) improve a bit the design. Don't get me wrong, I mean things like good transitions between effets.
I know that, as always, there is no enough time to finnish the prods well before the deadline.
Good XM player. Have it finally all the fasttraker effets implemented or it is the same routine used before in Perfect Circle?

Respect to Trauma Child Genesis.

After being out of the scene for 5 years I took at "little Nell". The demo started very nice. Nice athmosphere, good quality of the scenes. Nice music. The rest was a typical classic effect engine demo. To bad it didn't finish in the same fashion as it started.

It's still a classic.

some good parts, some unuseful parts
the start is promising, i like the style of this town
but the girl comes and kills the design
after that, it's a lack of coherency and interest
Oh god! I don't have to think twice what's my favourite Amiga demo now!

Effects are so fucking cool, graphics are so fucking cool and music are so fucking cool*5!!!!! Mmm... I don't remember when I have been such a pleasured from a demo.

Once again Scandinavia`s pride, The Black Lotus, show us in which aspects they`re perfect: In all spheres of design! They own fantastic 3d-modelers and 2d-graphicians, nobody can disregard the fact that most of them have their jobs in the game industry!

Everything looks pretty professional and speaks a language of its own. But judging the coded routines, nice ideas you`ve realised but a hint for users: Please don`t try to execute this demo on a slower machine than one equipped with a 68060! Kalms is of course able to do better but I have the impression that he became quite lazy since he`s so wellknown. Running this demo on a plain 030 makes you watching a slideshow as the number of shown frames per second is often around one, if not less... ;-) "Perfect Circle" was cooler in my humble opinion too, but "Little Nell" was also able to please my eyes `n ears! Again the Trauma Child Genesis duo has supplied a good soundtrack - what else to say? They have surely deserved to win the competition, but next year it could become closer if the Mekka^Symposium organizers still mix up the 68k with the PPC demos!! And the glorious name that they have worked hard for in the past years, that alone won`t be a guarantee to win once again!

Pretty good demo but I refuse to thumb this up since the girl model wasn't animated, huge flaw in my book.

It's Mekka Symp 2002, I'm at the party. I'm tired having had NO meaningful sleep since the start of the party, alternatively frozen or too hot. I'm not really appreciating the close proximity of my fellow human beings at that time.

And this demo brings me back to life.

The girl and the giant eagle. One of my top ten "OMFG!" moments when watching a demo for the first time.

Except for the strange "floating" girl, everything else is top-notch.

the girl looks a bit flat but good music and quite atmospheric demo.

Yeah, girl and bird are flatty. Otherwise neat.

Most of the scenes look really good, but some not that much, still it's very good hi-tec.
