What's a FOV?
well... i had a very similar idea for an 64k intro i wanted to make, and i'm honestly not impressed by this one and will surely (try to) make my own "version"
whatever, i'll give it a thumb anyway :)

doesnt run in fullscreen mode here (512mb / gf4ti4200 / xp1700)
shane: FOV = Field Of View

Nice concept. I'm relucant to admit that I would have loved a more polished execution of the idea, but there you go. Couldn't help but smile at a couple of cameos of the past.
Heh...
[14:04:22] <tyger> that url
[14:04:29] <tyger> when pasted into windows calculator (at least win2k)
[14:04:35] <tyger> gives you pi to like the 20th digit
Mmmmm. Pi.

MADDOX CODED THIS!
The field of view gave me an IMAX-stomach ache. But how can I not thumb it up?
(How could you put the OpenGL teapot into DirectX? Sacrilege!)
By the way, the first/last and second music parts were really cool

radman: so far, EVERY URL I've tried gives me pi.
'cos urls usually start with http which contains 'p' which is the shortcut for pi :)
A lot of effort and nice ideas went into this, and the music is rather cool.
Could've used some more work on the graphics though :)
(about the url stuff: it's obviously a cons-pi-racy)

really nice. some objects put a smile on my face like fr's "schmock" or exceeds stuff.
fov was okay for me, but some textures disappointed me. anyway a good invitation.

OpenGL stole the Teapot from Utah. The teapot model predates even Iris GL.
legalize: That's an interesting story... Have any links on that?
whoa! incredible! :)
now all it would need is an interactive first person museum tour part ;)))))

swWEEeeeT! It made me smile so much, my cheeks hurt :) nostalgic
what the problem with ur eyes?!... the colors are so ugly... and the fov... to bad 'cause the inspiration was nice...
the 3d is neat .. congrats for that
RaD Man: here ya go
History of the Utah Teapot
Utah Teapot
Utah Teapot
I'm sure there are more. The history of the Utah Teapot was written up in an issue of IEEE Computer Graphics & Applications some years ago (late 80s, I think). I have the issue at home.

sprengler, you suck. stop thumbing down good productions. All prods have different purposes, and all aren't ment to look like fr25. When you see people have put a lot of effort in a prod, there is no need to flame it off. If you have nothing nice to say, i suggest you shut the hell up. Thank you. And by the way, this demo rules :) gonna watch it over and over
verrry nice . . . a bit to big . . . (for me)
really really good prod. i think all coders wanted to release this kind of demo someday
Sorry but it didn't work for me.
The museum idea has been used zillions of times before, graphics are mostly simple, the FOV hurts and all classic references are very dull :-/
There's an undeniable effort behind the demo though, respects for that.
Btw, the first ten seconds HAS to be a Spöntz mockery :)

I got "could be infected with an unknown virus" in F-Prot, can someone double-check this EXE and make sure it's clean? McAfee VirusScan v4 says it is.
Simply: FANTASTIC !
Never mind if "The museum idea has been used zillions of times before", I simply have pleasure watching that great demo ! And that's the *ONLY* thing I want when watching a demo !
Congratulations for all people working on that project coz it seems to be a huge one ! Thanks !

phoenix The EXE isn't infected; some virus detection tools report packed EXEs as "infected" because they think that only virus/worm/trojan tools use EXE packers.
Hi phoenix -- you probably have your virus scanner set to ultra-sensitive mode. :)
I am using a combination of McAfee VirusScan 7.03.6000 and Norton Antivirus Professional Edition 9.05.15 with the latest definitions on both, and the program checks out just f--&!@7NO CARRIER

Packers it doesnt know about is a problem for antivirus scanners, since a packer kindof uses the same idea as a traditional executable virus, multiply executables in one.. Old antivirusprograms didnt know about UPX or anything and was a pain in the ass if you wanted to run any intro i remember.
And indeed, this is a virus, look how many who has downloaded and watch this without any purprose, bad textures, bad music and no original ideas... Virus indeed, but atleast maddox coded it!

it doesn't totally suck.
umm, and maddox, what are you guys on.. he didn't code shit... (unless classiclyzero is that guy?, but hella-doubtfull)
ps. when is an American group going to code the invitro to 'the american party' (jokes)

In Frickin Credible!!
kickass invitro, to bad it's so fucking expensive to travel to the US from europe :/
Nice work. Congrats to all northern dragons.
I really like this. But Polaris, what have you done to it? I mean, this final version sometimes just freezes for a while and then continues again.
These dragons have computers that can beat your computers:)
i like the ideas, tho i don't like the outcome much. the first scene is the one that looks ok, the rest .. well. i think i've seen too much prods that were trying to implent the feel of old pc-demos, if not amiga-demos, but never really succeeded because it's ridiculous.
it didn't make it for me.
(and why did nobody comment on the winnerdemo-reference before? =)
Wow! It made me feel so warm with all these references! Simple bloody THANKS Northern Dragons!
BTW: you can update the sys requierements. It ran here perfectly well on a one-chip mainboard SiS-based subnotebook, with Celeron-ULV@650 MHz, with 16 MB of graphic memory, and that on a gfx hardware which is approx like Riva TNT!

was ok...except the textures :)
Did not run with MultiSampling...although my 3D card supports it =|
Lower the system config : P2celeron500 + 256mb + tnt1 16mb works fine with 640x480/16bb ... :) ...and the invitation ? Done well ! Yeah, the fov hurts really ...
Nice! Cool sound!
I like homages, perhaps a bit ugly at some 3d scenes, but I enjoyed it very much!
Some of the fx/scenes were dull/ugly, but the effort and some of the scenes were nice. And the FOV really hurts a lot!
too much FOV, nice effects, and nice for "onetimewatch".. a bit ugly btw..
Nice idea.
very cool idea!!
nice music and nice effects.
However, not much FOV.
However, I still thumb up.

Hey! Very cool invitation...
Following last year's oldschoolish kickbacks with modern machines... ;-)
Well done, scenish and a really worthy party-invitation!
Wish you all _much_ luck and of course lotsa fun with this year's pilgrimage event!
Maybe I'll be able to attend it once as well if I might get the chance to buy me a flight-ticket to usa... ;-)
Keep up the good demoscene work over there and get it settled and developing finally!!
(Demo)scene simply ruuuules!!

Fair but not gorgeous... No attitude, only comtemplative atmosphere.
The idea is nice though, and is nicely produced. Nice 3D architecture.

I have to agree on that "too much FOV" comment, it gives the whole demo a sort of a "sphere-map" feeling. Other than that.. thumbs up.
The FOV almost made be hurl over the keyboard in the first scene.. Scary!
The scenens was excellent and I found the music very atmospheric so it was a really soathing and relaxing experience. Nice going.
Will there be any muslims coming to Pilgrimage? They usually hates it when people talk about the pilgrimage. ;-)

this made me smile ^__^
ok, nice, almost all the known effects inside ;)
but it lacks some complexity, I think it would have be nicer with some additional "postproduction" effects. IMHO.

Sorry Arnie, i think it was just the lame-ass Che Guevara and not Maddox :)
Anyway, thumbs up for the oldskool stuff and the effort.

Iam sorry rainmaker, but che guevara IS maddox.
Spengler must be another Troll like Don the homo, Geez !! just what do like like if I may ask, Duckers has an excellent point.
btw Great Invitaion

ooooh fuck my eyes are bleeding! The colors, my god the colors! Did you guys have to absolutely use _all_ of them ?
Still very cool concept, okish execution and nice 'feel'... I especially loved the 'fish in a torus' part and the pizzaslice.
a piggie it is.

Much work here. But to actually enter directly in all these demos instead of having them displayed on planes would have a better effect (like the cyboman2 of the beginning) (some of them don't work on my machine, because of pixel shaders or ?), also the way the multi-colored tunnel is introduced is quite nice (at least it's refreshing at the moment it is shown). What about a more final version without that disturbing perspective ?
Not a fascinating but a very entertaining demo.

hey what a nice prood here! anyway.. colors are soooooooooooo ugly : ) great music, models and idea tho..
This invite is very inviting! The colours are little overboard, though. I would say the opening and closing are the true standouts in this demo. Nice work Dragons.
Overall, it's quite good. A few scenes with too wierd color schemes for my taste, but deserves a thumb.
kool
yeah, we are not so quakers so fov of 120-130 sucks :)
( ok it's around 100-110 actually i think :)
and those colors :/
but idea is fucking great as alien is :D

yeah and pizza !! :D just amazing. like real one. but coca-cola can is cheap. beer would do. (i've heard boozin' isnt allowed at pilgrimage so beer was cancelled :(
hello: they say they have a bar at pilgrimage actually..
Sweet
yeah
Some scenes were a bit ugly, but very nice work in general!
nothing really special so piggy
Great atmosphere !
Well - I have to give it a thumbs up for the creativity/execution - but at the same time, please consider the colors next time -- I know it couldn't be made much different to give a reminiscence of the good old days... Good idea and nice execution.
Didn't like the music though.

extreme FOV is good!
general atmosphere is good!
design is good!
oldskool is good!
=> i like it! ;)

my mistake, it actually runs fine in fullscreen mode. I guess my pc was screwed up the other day.
Enjoÿ ;-)
The only thing I don't like in this one is the extreme FOV.
UGLY!!! UGLY!!!
Sucks a lot!
Sucks a lot!
These guys are the main jane slicers!! 1337skillz.
i have some problems with effects rectangles in "effects gallery". some are plain black, one is plain gray.
for instance in room where "2ndreality r-w polyhedron" bounces all other rects are plain black :( and two are black in raytracing-room. i think they were front and left ones.
ti4200.128 43.45 drivers
(newer ones are too buggy)

Nothing special

me likes ;]
The great idea could've been executed better, but this still brought a smile to my face. There can never be enough glenz vectors and shadebobs! But where were all the scrollers? (except for the Star Wars one)
oh yeah, almost forgot to vote on it :)
It's entertaining, but I found the modelling plain and the texturing rather harsh colour-wise. Also, the framerate was mighty uneven: Seemed to sputter like like a drunken bum on a park bench.
I have this strange funny feeling we might be seeing alot of network traffic here soon...
Niiiiiice :-)
was nice, really! but a thumb up to last years invitation, this one is still loosing something, even it was nice =)
Jeez 10mb for an invite :/ 64k invites are best.
hmmm tons of work, absolutely no sense of style.
lotsa colors
cheap.
i loved start scene and other stuff, but textures were not so good and i loved to see fishes swimming like in cyboman :D
anyone else think that they were on "demoscene - the ride" when they watched this?
no
hahahha... Waffle you're getting quoted on the next ARTS episode.
WHEN WILL THAT NEXT EPISODE TO BE RELEASED, IF EVER :D
spacebar, ctrl+e, and arrow keys...
Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right, B, A, Start,
Graphics are OK, nothing special, but the idea is funny! I like this museum ;-)
Congratulations to IChaos who has completed the Northern Dragons challenge and discovered all the hidden parts in this demo!
cool.. 2d,3d,oldscool,newscool everything..
Nice, but somehow I found it uninspired. There were obvious effects missing :(
Boring&ugly 3d flyby. But the memories are so sweet :)
what manko said, no sense of style. and ugly.
okkie
Smart idea, a 3D flyby I like. ;)
Got dizzy with the final DXCube.. but everything else was wonderful! Such a great package.
It certainly has its imperfections, but it's one hell of a feel good demo!
i'm searching for its soundtrack
sorta cheesy, nevertheless a worthy invtro
:)
Kinda ugly, but nice music. Also, ctrl+f :D
Kinda cheesy, super weird FOV, but really cool idea and it made me smile (:
Nice
overall pretty low-poly and occasionally extremely cringy, but full of content rather entertaining to watch nevertheless
