Just cause
Another trojan horse...
Feelin’ things again are we?
Much as I am pro use of AI in the scene, and happy to defend it, I don't think I will be doing that here.
There are three meta problems with your production:
- You're anonymous
- You made it about the demoscene
- You didn't tell us how you made it
But thankfully, all three problems are easily fixable in your next attempt.

you yould be playing Dungeon Crawl Stone Soup, or maybe buy a skateboard? or an e scooter if you must, but please stop reducing our signal to noise ratio.

AI Shit
Period !
AI Shit
Period !
using technology you can't be credited for leaves me only to judge design at sub-zero level, horrible music and no originality. i don't know what you wanted to demonstrate here, but certainly not skill.
Slop
glop
slop glop
glöp
please find a different scene to pursue your lack of talent!
we're eating glops tonight!!
why? :(
Is this a prophecy or a warning?
How was it created, and by whom?
Hey! The ominous music isn't bad. :]

We are Anksai, an underground collective. This work is a conceptual excavation of what technological mediation has hollowed out, leaving only its echoes. It is difficult to digest, and meant to be. Its dissonance, sonic and visual, is not a flaw but the argument. We remain anonymous, for in an age that renders the human author a vestigial organ, we no longer consider ourselves relevant as beings.
OK
Lol. the early 2000s want their cool anonymous authors back. And I say this as a practitioner and observer of that trope
Like, antiorp was like 5000x more interesting than any 2026 meat proxy
I ain’t watching your lamer attempt at trying to make me feel anything but pity for you, fools.
@anksai_co: Aha! So, this is a post-human manifesto or something of that sort. Am I right?
I love that you’re trying to steer the scene back to its underground roots. The downside of your anonymity is that it will be difficult for you to attend demoparties, which means your influence (for better or worse) won’t have much of an impact.

Aim to make something good, and stand by it when it turns out it sucks even though you tried. Or don't release if it is too embarrassing.
Also, this is not what "difficult to digest" means. Go watch a satori, wrighter or nosfe production.

so difficult to digest it might cause constipation!
Motivational piggie, because this looks like a newcomer, and honest, constructive feedback is how people get better. Everyone starts somewhere: 30 years ago that meant copying existing asm and spending afternoon after afternoon working out what every line did.
But then there's the statement: "a conceptual excavation of what technological mediation has hollowed out... its dissonance is not a flaw but the argument". That's a lot to put on this. If the idea is to shake up the scene, it can't be done with a hello world, and that's what this is, plain and simple. It proves nothing, demonstrates nothing and doesn't push anything.
Looking at what's actually in there:
Visuals: the scene rendered twice (once mirrored for the water reflection) into an MSAA target, ray-marched SDF boxes, the rest boxes, quads and a heightfield valley, a fullscreen sky gradient, additive particles, a down/up bloom chain, text rasterized to a texture, and a final pass with glitch, chromatic aberration, flashes and fades. No shadows, no AO, no GI, no fog or volumetrics, no real materials, and not a single effect that hasn't been done a bazillion times before. Every one of those is a tutorial you can find in an afternoon; there's nothing in there you haven't seen in hundreds of prods since the early 2000s.
Camera and editing: straight lines and orbits with easing, scenes joined by cuts and fades.
Music: rendered up front from sines, noise and a couple of filter types, then a textbook bus: ping-pong delay, Freeverb-style reverb, EQ and a limiter.
All of it is standard, done many times before, and none of it is used in a way that makes it yours. Dissonance doesn't turn defaults into an argument. The mood and the sound have something, but that's it.
Honestly, take a look at the most viewed 64ks: fr-08: .the .product, heaven seven, candytron, poemtoahorse, Project Genesis, Chaos Theory, Panic Room, Dead Ringer, Planet Potion... most of them made between 2000 and 2007, on a fraction of today's hardware and with tools people had to write themselves. Then ask yourself, honestly: can this be compared to any of them? Twenty years later, with everything in our favour, it should at least be in the same conversation.
A 64k that really pushes the limits sits on decades of accumulated work: engines, tools, synths, techniques refined over years, plus months of direction, design, sync and pacing for each prod. It doesn't come out of two afternoons and a couple of prompts, with AI or without it.
If you just want to do quick releases for fun, that's completely legit. But a message this big needs weight behind it.
None of this is meant to put you down. It's constructive criticism, like revival's, and I'd read the rest of the thread the same way: as a reason to try harder, not to quit. Come back with a new version or a new 64k that really impresses. Let's raise the bar and push the limits in what is, imho, the hardest category in the scene.

AI;DR
@BPL: Appreciate the effort you put in to assess it. Fair hit on a strong statement that outgrew the production. Technically, we cared about the toroidal variant of the mandelbulb, which took us some time to perfect. We just prefer not to flash technicalities over visual direction. Taking your point about execution seriously. The next one will aim higher.

no, I think it's trace
Whoever it is they’re mentally a teenager, but probably in their late 40s or early 50s…
BPL sounds like tomkhs Alter Ego and anksai is their sock puppet.
And yes, it really wishes to be edgy. Unfortunately it's too crude to be avantgarde.

unless BPL is being dishonest, they said they never did anything in the scene… and tomkh did. Which, by the mean, means tomkh has more right to an opinion than BPL.
Syns det er sykt bra, sjøl om det er AI bak det

Isn't that ALL OF US?
As a rule, the average age of demomakers is such that they all experienced the C64 and the Amiga. 😁
Sound don't work on mobile.
fuck this. this is exactly one of the reasons why I stopped.
I always wanted to do demos as a means to learn something new, to try new ideas, etc. To in some way, get better with each new prod, which I think I kinda did.
To some people in compos there its about competing. Why compete against pure AI shit/robots? Why even bother? Just to...suffer?

if this prod is a fake, some info is false or the download link is broken,
do not post about it in the comments, it will get lost.
