A lot of missed potential by not pathtracing, but it's p cool.

great modelling! the silhouette is especially impressive, i wonder if that's still just procedural modelling or maybe an vector graphics kind of thing?

@wrighter I promise it's pathtraced! I can only assume you're going by the Pouet screenshot, which loses a lot of the detail down near the black point. Try the progressive render version and you should be convinced.

(Related: It was a relief to see the black point at about 12 according to the Mercury calibration slide at Evoke!)

@Preacher and all, thank you very much :)

that's normal, wrighter is quick with the assumptions about tech - and usually just as wrong :)

@nr4 maybe start dumb beef outside of art prods on pouet? :)

@Fell, I see now yeah.

My issue is that it doesn't look realistic. The wood floor looks like it's made of bronze and the candles seem to be the light emitters themselves, instead of the flames (e.g. can be seen in the specular reflections of the chandelier). Also the candles' material could look cool with SSS - *especially* making the light saturated the deeper it penetrates through the candle. The window frames stick out as texture-less and the transparent curtains seem like they are added in post processing.

Don't get me wrong though - it's a good piece. :) And you might be going for this vibe.

@wrighter all fair points. The flames are the actual emitters, but are backed up with larger invisible emitters which I think are causing the candles to look like they're light sources.

It would have deserved the last 512b being filled, ran outta time :)

Probably the last outing for our Warpath renderer before upgrading to bidirectional raytracing.
