- It's content. Delivered on schedule and fulfilling all the requirements to qualify as content. I'm sure it will generate some engagement when the algorithm pushes it to consumers in the demographic that consumes long form content longer than 3 minutes.
If indeed a human intervened somehow in the production of this content, I'm sure the variance introduced by that intervention will provide valuable data for producing content even more expeditiously in the future. - sucksadded on the 2025-08-14 08:36:55

- "No. No! NO! Stop it! Stop it, please! I beg you! This is sin! This is sin! This is sin! It's a sin, it's a sin, it's a sin!"
"Sin? What's all this about sin?"
"That! Using Ludwig van like that! He did no harm to anyone. Beethoven just wrote music!" - rulezadded on the 2025-07-31 07:59:31

- The fact that it's incidental just makes it worse. You fire up some proprietary model that turns gigawatt hours into /pol/ greentext and you don't even make it count. You use it for something that's literally interchangeable with any other image in existence. A glorified lena.jpg, a Fig. 1 for a proof of concept.
I can't believe I actually kind of miss the days when we used to debate if you can make something with Unreal Engine and call it a demo. Maybe we had pedantic, arbitrary standards, but at least we had standards. - isokadded on the 2025-07-29 16:44:40

when we even then (or from about then) studied human psy in scientific manner for the propaganda purposes, why would anyone do that, if vast majority of people wouldn't fall far it?
Ok, so correct me if I'm wrong, but here's what I'm reading here:
Every individual person can be, without error, clumped into the homogenous mass of the "vast majority of people". Whenever someone in that sea of humanity voices an opinion, it is never their own, because everything they ever say or think is spoonfed to them by the powers that be.
The one exception to this is Serpent the Wise, who - unlike the lot of you - has read books. Stop listening to whoever you are listening to, listen to him instead. What he brings to the table is what every discussion needs - a thorough rumination of the basics. 0 / 0 == NaN? Well now you're just regurgitating what someone else told you. Sit back, kids, we're going back to the axioms.
It's funny - it turns out that you're actually agreeing with everyone here, just that everyone else is agreeing wrong, because they're dumb. And yes, that might conceivably be the case. Knowledge is, after all, justified true belief, meaning that without justification, it's not knowledge. But then, what makes you exceptional? What makes you think that "no one is immune to propaganda" - a thought that has left the circles of social sciences and found its way to memes - is an insight so exclusive to you that you need to educate everyone? - isokadded on the 2025-03-09 07:17:37

So that you don't have to assume anything: would write the same exact comment today.
Fair enough...
Quote:Just find it funny how many people supposedly feel based on "you have to feel like X because you are Y" and then follow that immediately without critical thinking.
...but you do realize you're doing a heck of a lot of assuming yourself? Because every time there's a discussion even vaguely about politics, you chip in and you seem to imply you're the only one in the room capable of original thought. Sometimes a person can come to a popular conclusion not because it's popular, but because the popular conclusion just happens to also be a reasonable one. - isokadded on the 2025-03-05 19:47:53

"We'll own it," Trump said of Gaza. "We're going to take over that piece, develop it and create thousands and thousands of jobs, and it will be something the entire Middle East can be proud of," he said, adding that a “long-term ownership position” by the U.S. would bring “great stability to the Middle East.”
Or, referring to Greenland:
Quote:"But we need it really for international, for world security, and I think we're going to get it. One way or the other, we're going to get it."
Maybe I'm just old and pigheaded in my insistence that words mean things, but I just think that anyone who thinks Trump is any less interventionist than previous US presidents is an absolute moron. - isokadded on the 2025-03-05 15:59:37

- They could have used their own engine, but that's not the problem. Unreal doesn't have a "generate demo" button. (Though if it did, this is probably what it would deliver.)
They could have used their own assets, but that's not the problem. You can't substitute direction with building blocks, no matter how lovingly you've crafted those blocks.
They could have scheduled things better so this thing wouldn't be 10 gigabytes, if indeed running out of time is why none of the unused bloat was trimmed, but even that's not the problem. A lot of demos are horrendous messes at release (admittedly rarely to this degree), because we have decided to romanticize "partycoding" which often is just a nice way to say "deadline is in 2 hours, I'm bucking under stress and I have no way to fix any of this".
Try watching this and pretending they did all of those things. It's still not a good demo, right? I see comparisons to ASD - this disjointed jank is probably what ASD demos look like to people who hate ASD. To me, this looks more like Japotek, except even Japotek is exonerated by having had 25 years less of progress in demo design to draw from. The only sign of progress here is that pixel shaders have since been introduced. - sucksadded on the 2024-08-09 13:03:24
