A Follow up to the different-engine intro, which feature the same kind of effects, metamorf displays original 2d effects,
based on distorting/merging layers of images using square tiles. The images themselves are industrial ones, and the music is itself
distorded, industrial, but still 'regular' and listenable. new design is always welcome!

zden - you da man.

good idea, although you can't watch it too often IMHO, i liked different engine better.

This was the second demo of Zden's new style after the Different Engine. What stood the same was the audience of the party Metamorf took part and their sence for art. Many of them are more excited by a 3d rotating potatoe than by those stips of a textures, flashing to the very uncommon soundtrack beat.
By my opinion Zden is rather (demo)artist of a European scale than Slovak or citizen of the 'Zone 42'. And as I can see, no matter he is quite not understood by his domestic audience he is no doubt one of the greatest talents of CS demoscene.

One of my absolute favourite demos of the last time. Zden's style is refreshingly distinctive, and his "conventions are none" attitude helps him producing demos which will be remembered when all those object shows and "design" demos are long forgotten. Learn from him. Just don't copy him, as you didn't learn from him then.

Is that the "Faq demos let's art" thingy I have heard about???

There was a funny story, funny for me, a friend who had heard good words about this demo, downloaded and he thinks that it is the worst demo he had ever seen in his life =)

I haven't seen it. I am curious. You know that I can't understand some demos with new experimental or demotrends. (Heh,. Am i too close minded ;P)Their previous Diferrent Engine seemed to me like my Gfx Card had serious problems ;P

This demo reminds me of the "Visual Noise / Visual Glitch"-performance at Helsinki Media Art Festival 2000.

I have to admit that I never really understood the hype around this 'demo'. Someone stated something like "you can't be prepared for this experience". This and similiar comments gave me the impression that this one is something completly revolutionary and mega exciting.

It's not.

BUT, it's finally the prove that a demo can work without phong shaded spike balls, a heavy 3d-engine, character animation etc. This thinggy has balls and leaves all common demo standards far behind. Respect for that.

Many people don't like Metamorf as they lost their ability to look at things 'for the first time'. We're just SO biased expecting another 3D junk. That is actually the best way to lose experience ;]

For the most part I watch all demos from start to finish, even dull ones. However, this was one of those few instances I pressed 'esc' before it had finished it's run. A 15 meg graphical programming bug. (They're getting larger!!)

Funny, I just realized that my Aural Planet CD 5 EX Engine had a data track, and this demo was in it. I actually thought it would be a music video or something, but as soon as I started watching the video, I realized that this must be a demo - and a demo it was. A great one too! :) Simple idea and simple effects but very well arranged and fit perfectly to the track.

This is a great demo. It's not ugly, it's just another kind of beautiful.
