- 64k Windows Squish by AND [web]
- Very good visuals, music is not bad either (except that e-tom sound), and it is in 64k! About the design: Of course, this intro has no deeper meaning, but it has a nice flow and is a pleasure to watch.
Since Zoom3 is even better, I really hope to see something from AND again this year. - rulezadded on the 2004-03-26 06:33:50
- 64k MS-Dos Windows heaven seven by Exceed [web]
- Excellent visuals, music and design. It is the lyrics, the walking child and the 2D-art which makes this the best of the best.
About the music ripping: There is only a limited number of combinations of harmony, melody and rhythm. Since I could not find the MP3s this is supposed to be ripped from, I am quite sure it is not. - rulezadded on the 2004-03-25 02:35:02
- demo Windows De Profundis by kolor [web]
- Somewhat boring. No, actually it is not boring, if you do no think about this as a typical demo. And about the comparison with Kasparov... well, Kasparov may be technically more impressive (I am not saying better), but designwise both demos are actually very good, and contentwise De Profundis clearly wins.
I did not know the poem before I watched this, but this demo really made me think about WW when I saw it! I really liked those flying birds which reminded me of Pink Floyd - The Wall, because there is a similar looking black bird - which stands for Germany in WW2 by the way - that also looks like a fighter.
Unfortunately the demo lacked certain aspects or objects that could have made it more effective, like bad weather ("schwarzer Regen"), more burned out and dead things and a better old-movie-noise.
But the details showed that this was well thought up, e.g. showing the raven briefly in the first scene.
All in all, this is good, as it is!

- 4k Windows Mojo Dreams
- Works on Radeon 8500! Graphics would be very good for 64k, but 4k... :-O
Music is ok, but disappointing compared to the visuals. The used MIDI tone colors do not really fit together in case of my sound card. I like the tune itself though.
In your next intro you could try starting off with a really good softsynth concept and then add some graphics :) - rulezadded on the 2004-03-22 21:43:26
- demo Linux Windows Chimera by Halcyon
- Different? Yes.
Art? Everyone has a different definition, and all demos are art in someones definition.
Demo? If you start it, it runs and displays something on your screen while you can hear sound in the background. Thereby it is a demo.
A good demo? Technically no. Designwise it is good, but not outstanding either. It can get you into interesting moods, etc. However, this could have been more effective in many ways, and even though I like it, I think it mainly gets so much attention because it is different and especially because it is by Halcyon, not because it is a good art demo.
Nevertheless, if you liked it and want more, try this: http://www.pouet.net/prod.php?which=8053.
It is even more minimalistic, more abstract, with an even more unusual "music", and even slower.
And, well, the comments are even more split up between those who like it those who do not! - isokadded on the 2004-03-22 06:02:02
- 64k Windows Beyond by Conspiracy [web]
- Finally! This is great!
However, some scenes still have less than 1 FPS and look messed up on my Radeon 8500... This may have something to do with the newest drivers (v4.3).
In any case, the planet textures are great, the nebulas are also very nice and so is the music. Interesting, that just like the other two intros by Conspiracy this one also refers to something like god or the universe.
I am looking forward to seeing more! - rulezadded on the 2004-03-17 22:45:10
- 256b MS-Dos tube by 3SC [web]
- Very impressive! Especially those transparent textures. But Anapurna by downdown actually looks even a bit better, even though it only achieves about 1 FPS/2 GHz.

- 64k Windows bakkslide 7 (win32) by Hellcore [web] & Omnicolour [web]
- Graphics are ok, music is good, but the design: Is simply amazing! The lyrics... if you really feel moved by them, I recommend reading some poems. Nevertheless they are very well chosen and create a strong effect together with the graphic and especially the music.
Heaven seven is definitely still my favorite demo, but this belongs in the top ten. - rulezadded on the 2004-03-14 05:27:45
- demo Windows energia by Sunflower [web]
- This is one of those demos you should watch a few times while really trying to look at what is happening on the screen.
Energia has a nice flow, very abstract and interesting objects and one of the best tunes I ever heard in a demo.
By the way, who said that this is art? I do not actually get why some people voted it down because of that reason.
Argueing whether a demo is art or not does not really make sense since everyone has his own definition of art.
In any case, for me this is fun to watch and this would be a good candidate for "coup de coeur" as it is somewhat different from other demos. - rulezadded on the 2004-03-14 04:03:32
- demo invitation Windows fr-037: the code inside by mfx [web] & Farbrausch [web]
- Well...
Lots of pictures, some 3D objects that remind me of fr-036 and a music which sounds like it is created using kb's softsynth.
Except that head, the 3D objects look totally random to me and the music is simply too repetitive. Even a decent hall effect would have helped to make those unfiltered saw waves a lot less unpleasent to listen to through headphones.
Would there be even ten thumbs up if this had not been made by farb-rausch and mfx? I think this product is seriously overrated already. - sucksadded on the 2004-03-13 18:50:21
