- ok, I've checked out "Whispers" in the meantime... and while it's very similar in style, my opinion is that it can't be called a ripoff in any way.... because it leads to the question:
is no one allowed to make productions that are stylistically similar?
I mean, of course it's great to be the first to have unique idea but hey, gimme a break... if a musicdisk is judged by the graphics/style alone, then we're on the wrong track, no? - isokadded on the 2005-12-29 21:02:29

- this seems to be quite a heated discussion... and while I can't really judge the whole ripoff-issue since I haven't seen "Whispers" yet, I'm not gonna comment on that. However, I just remember that on the Amiga there were a lot similarly-themed musicdisks too and no one really made a big fuzz about it. What matters the most to me is that the compositions are original, which they apparently are, so what's the big deal? The fact that it's a season? There already was Spring Melodies on the Amiga, so it could be a ripoff of that too, no? ;) just kidding...
I do think though that Skuter deserves respect for the music he composed... while at the same time he should respect the others. It works both ways. Like I've said before, I think the songs fit the topic of the musicdisk very well. They aren't the best songs I've ever heard, but they're very nice.
The technical achievement of cramming as much as possible into a few bytes isn't something that means a lot to me though. It may be a great achievement, but it doesn't make a song better to me if it only uses 1kb. I only judge music by what it is.... music. Personally speaking, I'd like to see what Skuter can do outside of the chiptune-limitations. Go for it, mate! :) - isokadded on the 2005-12-29 16:46:00

- holy shit, what a gorgeous trip that was! Absolutely blows me away... the music stunningly fits (and for once grooves and isn't some stupid techno/drumnbass crap... with these light-effects it must be possible to do the most beautiful fireworks in a demo ever. Preacher? please? :)
