- I see that it imports Direct3DCreate9, however that's the only way to create a surface in DirectX 9 since DirectDraw has been eliminated and its functionality merged into Direct3D
Ok, i believe you that hardware could also start jumping around, but i'm still not 100% convinced. I unpacked the exe and i don't see any other pointers to what it would be. Neither by scanning for strings nor by walking dependencies. Not that DirectX would tell much since it all goes through offsets in pointer tables!
Still, i would not believe *anyone* would release a prod where texturing mode is set so stupidly as here if it was hardware rendered! - isokadded on the 2004-01-30 18:26:30

- oh, i forget it must be working like a Voder synth here: http://ptolemy.eecs.berkeley.edu/~eal/audio/voder.html
which was constructed by Bell Labs in the 30ies and was controlled by "girls" using a some levers and some pedals and thus control data should be known. - isokadded on the 2004-01-30 17:15:11

- heheh! so it's just setups for the synth? ;) That must be quite a job to get them right. ;) No wonder it's so hard to understand what it says.
sorry for not thumbing it up, though i like the demo, i think it's simply rated quite high enough, i can push it up when it goes down. ;) - isokadded on the 2004-01-30 17:06:33

- I must thimb it up. Did anyone notice it was a software renderer? Just look at the floor jumping around, no hardware will give you that. And it's fairly fast as well! This already diserves a thumb up. Okay, synth is somewhat simplistic and the textures are nor really inspired (they rarely are in beginner intros), but else it was quite a good start.

- kb: I was first stunned to see a nude lady (ur, cheap;) but then i was *amazed* to hear the voice!
Can you give up some top-secret tech details?
Say, how much space did the phonemes consume in the executable? And how many phonemes did you need? Are phonemes compressed by some Windows codec? ;) - rulezadded on the 2004-01-29 14:17:16

- Autch! I missed the possibility to make the first post in new year! THIS INTRO PUMPS THE BASS DOWN MY THrOAT AND MAKES ME TRANCE!!!
I'm sorry, but i am yet waiting for a better one than this... It's too good, the next farb-rauschs feel like crap compared to this... I wonder whether KB can top his own music once... I hear from time to time in the scene, fr-09 is considered "better", is considered "art", and this one is considered "code" - at the contrary, i find the "bitchy" (to wrongly quote kb) music and simple but life-like objects of fr-08 make up this gloomy atmosphere still unmatched! I think we have seen those screen-like, spiky, and most other kinds of fr-09 things quite a bit too often in the demosene!
FR PLEASE MAKE ANOTHER INTRO WHICH WOULD RULE AGAIN! I find everything else up to date somewhat boring. It's not your fault, there were many which were well-done, it's prrobably just not matching my taste. - rulezadded on the 2004-01-12 19:24:25

- Very strange! it is even 1/5 FPS on the brightness screen. I think CPU gets locked. What thread priorities do you have? Besides, would you please enable to select resolution in the final?

- runs at 1 frame every 5 seconds on my Pentum 3, Geforce2mx. At what point does it come short? I have seen it at tUM. Very impresive. So a thumb up.
