- Only want to mention that Tedric was so kind and nothing daunted to fight his way through my submitted source code in order to add and replace some of the originally included graphics with nicer looking ones. Thanks & credits for that and for having adapted the code to the changes.
This production took me while to complete due to a busy schedule in school and some other private distractions. The coding was not too challengeing but somehow it was a lot of typing and a couple of tiny things had to be considered. Quite annoying for such a harmless and plain looking production; in the end I kind of felt like an "optimum fuckup" ;-)
Moreover, I seem to remember that certain combinations of values that were consecutively loaded into $102 caused "very nice" vertical (red?) streaks which made it necessary to revise them by hand. Has anyone experienced similar artefacts? Troubleshooting? ROG hates things he does not understand! - isokadded on the 2020-10-27 14:36:23
- bbstro Amiga OCS/ECS BBS - Intro by Nuance [web]
- First of all, I am always trying to find and see the good in the work of others. But this production is a tough one, especially against the background of Professor's profound coding skills. Look for example at his waving star wars scroller ("Introduction" / Nuance) or his contribution to "subtle shades" (Nuance) - lovely! But this textwriter is boring and a waste of bytes, even if the rotation of the letters was calculated in realtime. Or is that the reason why the appearance and movement of the next letter is delayed until the previous one has reached its end position? Professor, you can do much better!

- Nice idea to take up the tunnel motif of the game. I wondered where the tunnel may end up and I found out it is a time tunnel that is leading straight back into my beloved oldschool era. Moreover, green is ROG's favorite color and here my eyes can feast on a lot of it.
By the way, seven years to complete the production? Not bad but I can do better ;-). I am currently rewriting and refining a piece of code of mine of yore that will celebrate its 30th anniversary on Christmas this year. - rulezadded on the 2020-10-24 11:58:06

- (revision of my previous comment from 2020-10-20).
I carefully listened to the songs once again and I must say I like "My Glamorous Life" a lot; the title suits me ;-)
The song continued to play and echoed in my head all night long. That is what I call an earworm. The only thing about it I do not enjoy so much, because it sounds boring and uninspired, is the very end of the mid part which is leading over to the main theme again (position 2:27 - 2:33). Fortunately, these are only a few seconds and the subsequent and very vibrant final is making up for it.
Morever, I appreciate the short song of the intro sequence - called "Dazzler". - isokadded on the 2020-10-22 10:58:37

- The intro and menu are delicious - nice code, effects, and gfx. As for the muscic, I do have mixed feelings. My ears cannot find a worm ;-). What happened here? Maybe Jester spent too much time on the compositions and this unfortunately resulted then in very technically and overproduced sounding songs. Or the trick is that I simply have to listen to the songs a couple more times in order to experience a revelation?!?!

- comment on Photon's post from 2018-06-30. (Hejsan! Hur är läget? Hälsningar till Sverige).
Slow? Why? Can you specify that a bit further? I hope you won't mind that I don't know a better cube [from that time] that is
- consisting of images with 4 bpls and 72x72 px (if I remember correctly)
- having a perspective
- showing color fading of surfaces that are moving away from the viewer
- free of pixel gaps
Technically, it is a tidbit for me, though I have never scrutinized the code (too lazy and too much awe to do so ;-) ).
On the other hand, I heard rumors of a swiftly rotating texture mapped rectangle done by Niclas Thissel on the Atari ST. And I think this was even before Buddha's release. The only thing I know is that he prepared the image beforehand, that is one pixel became one byte in which the bitplane information were lined up; sounds somehow chunky to me.
Does anyone know more about that or have even seen it? - rulezadded on the 2020-10-17 12:48:21
- demo Amiga OCS/ECS Blittermiracle by Brainstorm [web]
- I can remember this one. Nice to watch it again. Rob Rose knew to persuade the Amiga to produce appealing output. In particular, I like the "raster electron microscope" part and the "sphere" at the end. Of course, I also do appreciate the texture mapped 3D cube and the idea of having engaged the Blitter. But it does have some flaws. (In order to brag a little ...) I coded such a texture mapped 3D cube (processor based) myself almost 30 years ago, but like the one from Brainstrom it neither had a perspective nor was it running at a decent speed in comparison to Buddha's or Musashi's; I was not aware of Bresenham's line drawing algorithm at that time - not to mention the improved versions thereof. Maybe the usage of a larger sinus table with 1/4deg steps would have compensated and hushed up that a bit. Moreover, the cube revealed what I call "pixel gaps" (= left out pixels in between) at certain angles, probably due to rounding errors. Hence, I never felt the urge to release it. But now I disgress a bit and come astray - sorry for that!
Despite those minor points of criticism, Blitter Miracle is a true milestone and big thumbs up for Rob Rose's brainstorming idea and pioneering realization of a texture mapped 3D cube. - rulezadded on the 2020-10-15 12:58:18

- Oops, looks like I missed a couple of releases from STROM in the past. I must confess, I like what I see. Very innovative and refreshing ideas. I have to confess I was not aware of Jackal (Chris?). Shame on me. I will include him in my "hall of fame" of talented coders. In case you are reading this: What is the secret behind your star wars scroller? ROG likes star wars scroller. ROG likes green. ROG likes good code. ROG confused . . . must stop now.

- cracktro Amiga OCS/ECS Interceptor by Unit A
- I reckon this intro must have been among the first ones I came across on my good old A500. I like the design and the mystic feeling it conveys. Despite the fact that not so much is happening on the screen I always had the impression that the individuals behind this production were smart heads who knew fairly well what they were doing. A couple of days ago, I read up some background information about Unit A on Exotica (written by Diz - who, by the way, hides his light under a bushel) . . . and yes, the former members of Unit A are smart! It would have been great to make your acquaintance back in the late 80s / early 90s. Conclusion: Unit A and this intro are legendary!
