- welcome back, 2013. funny how the camera paths are always such an immediate dead giveaway that something's been made in UE… wonder in the editor causes that.
i kinda liked the vocoder part in the music though - isokadded on the 2026-04-14 13:32:43
- demo JavaScript Heart Of Glass by Gray Marchers [web] & Byterapers [web]
- actually i guess i'll mention another pet peeve of mine… it'd be so much better to just stick to a palette and use those colors, instead of hue rotating everything. even within singles scenes having pretty intense shades of red, green and and blue on screen simultaneously is pretty "intense" looking visually, to try to put it nicely.

Reminded me of the best of Eurovision song contest in a funny way.
almost said the same thing, but felt the comparison was maybe a bit too on the nose (and not really in anyway a positive aspects for me) - isokadded on the 2026-04-14 13:23:31
- demo Windows Serpentin de Moire by Rebels & Calodox
- cool effects and decent attention to design the design and presentation. nothing groundbreaking, but this is kinda what the contemporary PC demos are all about.

- demo Windows Cerberus by Cocoon [web] & Excess [web]
- for my money this has much less polish than i've come to expect; mostly empty scenes, awkward animations (sometimes with FFT or envelope followers), jarring inertialess camera paths, strange color work, previz quality lighting (the cathedral scene early on…), etc. the theme also feels quite tired, with the demo not even having anything novel or interesting to present about it, interspersed with standard notch B-roll abstract procedural effects. i think the hands scene was the only part here that'd be worth writing home about. also, the standard notch visual quality doesn't even hold up that well here with things so rough around the edges, sometimes even literally, like the aliasing around contrasty object edges in several scenes, like, the screenshot, you can even see some of it still there after downscaling!
you can and have done much, much better. i get that sometimes you just wanna churn out something quickly for fun, but this one doesn't hold up even on the first viewing. i don't think this "sucks", but i wish you can give yourself more time to work on these in the future. :) - sucksadded on the 2026-04-14 13:19:49

- simultaneously one of my favorite demo soundtracks, yet one that always slips through my memory. a strange phenomenon, although fascinating at the same time. so melancholic and introspective. feels comforting yet distant and morose. brilliance.

- the Grey Marchers Cinematic Rendering Pipeline™ continues to do a whole lot of heavy lifting. as for the rest… well, not that i mind the "kaupallista potentiaalia" approach to demomaking (in fact it can be quite commendable when done right), but this just veers way, waaaay too far into kitsch territory. but at least you've still got the visual fidelity on point, so…

- demo Gameboy Advance Beyond the Pixels by Otomata Labs [web]
- sweet, well executed idea, and absolutely fantastic track. the free "lowres LCD" post process effect is a bit of an unfair advantage though ;)
