but aesthetically, well.. the size limit certainly chewed away there
I might be wrong here (and I hope I'll be corrected if I am), but I don't think they could not find any more room for size optimization; after all, it hardly pushes new boundaries on the amount of content or, say, geometric complexity, or post-processing. Feels more like they were rather short on time and/or did not have any concrete plans to improve it further. But more than that I think the demo wouldn't necessarily be better off if it were on the visual level of that Dying Stars clown head model. The stunted visuals actually help the campy feel imo. - isokadded on the 2019-04-29 03:50:53

For me it does feel right. Wild compos should have more actual live wild projects instead of boring videos of something pretending being wild.
I agree in principle, but what's the point of the time limits for the videos then? Should they be lifted as well? Should the entire assembly process be featured as part of the compo no matter how long it takes? I'm trying to understand your reasoning here.
For the record, my take is the opposite: during the compo, you have to present your work in the agreed-upon time limits—no matter the format. If you choose to show-off the engineering processes live at the expense of the time spent showing the production payload, that's cool—but still, abide by the time limits.
Maybe live engineering should be kind of a separate track from the compos and the seminars at Revision. IIRC Assembly has had something of a workshop area for a similar purpose, and I seem to remember some of the projects showcased there being entries to the party's wild compo (I admit I am not too familiar with the specifics, though). - isokadded on the 2019-04-28 16:37:00

- I am not sure how I feel about this. I think I get what you were trying to do with this style but it felt... a little fake, I guess? Like you were trying to make it look obviously-low-effort but inadvertently put in a tad more effort than needed, betraying your goal. And this clicked the wrong way in my brain, because now I keep thinking how it would look if you were putting all your effort and expertise into something not built around irony.
