- demo Windows There by Still [web]
- Alas, I am part of the crowd that this demo didn't manage to touch.
It feels as if I had missed some of the verses of the poem, and it lost me on the way.
And as Sesse and Smash pointed out, some lowly technical details worked against the intent.
For me the most jarring of them was that the lines seem to abruptly all start moving at once as a clear cut block, giving a sense of artificial and cold geometry, in direct opposition with the flow and organic idea that this story seemed to be telling. Some effects which I would have appreciated in any other prod made me wonder why they were in this one, like the blinking dots that made me think the path looked like a runway, or the Bourne Supremacy end credits 90° lines.
I'm not sure if it's those details that prevented me from fully appreciating this prod. I surely liked it, its quality is obvious from the very first plate, and the idea feels more mature and more thought through than the vast majority of even the noteworthy demos. But it didn't touch me as it should have. I will have to watch it again, but I also hope there will be a final version. - rulezadded on the 2021-04-08 00:19:27
- demo Windows Eternal Fortress by Peisik [web]
- I had forgotten about this one.
Very nice presentation of the geometry, which seemed to be your main goal. I especially like the nice touches like the golden parts.
However the switch to green felt jarring and the intent wasn't clear to me. - rulezadded on the 2021-04-07 23:47:08
- demo Windows A New World Awaits by Peisik [web] & ____blnk
- Finally a demo that does something interesting with fractals. In particular, I really like the out of frustum sequence.
The artefacts can get distracting, but overall the impressive visual quality makes them worth it.
I also really like the work done on the camera work to ground it in the world. - rulezadded on the 2021-04-07 23:30:25

- demo JavaScript Color by Ninjadev [web]
- Probably the first NinjaDev demo I didn't like. To me the spectral raytracing and the glitching just don't fit together at all, or I just don't get what the demo is trying to do.

- demo Windows Arcade by Spectrals [web]
- While it's visually pleasing, from a technical point of view I don't see anything ground breaking here. No in-your-face effect which you'd typically expect from a top tier demo. I'd even argue that it looks dated, rough around the edges, and that overall your first demo looked better.
Similar criticism goes toward the direction. There are some lengthy parts and a lack of dynamism, which is especially noticeable in the way the music tries to carry on from one part to another. I'm sure you are already aware of that and spent time trying to make the best out of it.
But this demo still wins because it feels genuine. And here I disagree with the comments referring to it as "pandering". An retro synthwave and neon visuals with no purpose qualifies as pandering. But this has a very clear purpose, develops a clear idea, and shows quite some research went into it. Obviously a lot of work went into it.
It's a flawed labour of love, and I loved it. - rulezadded on the 2021-04-06 13:41:09
