- demo Windows PROTOZOA by Kewlers [web]
- well, maybe, that sometimes happens when writing comments late at night after having seen the demo only at the party place :P
anyway, the look was .. original (\/) - isokadded on the 2003-05-31 10:53:26
- 64k Windows fr-030: candytron by Farbrausch [web]
- i second melwyn about this tits thingy.
very kitchy digital disco colors and sweet soundtrack.
a nice one, though the ending is a bit weak compared to the rest of the intro.. - rulezadded on the 2003-04-24 10:56:19
- 96k game Windows Dance Dance Calodox by Calodox
- funny, though i missed the competition, so it probably was very fun during it..
the intentionally crap graphics are unusual for a calodox release. hopefully it's just a game.. - isokadded on the 2003-04-24 10:52:21
- demo Windows started walking south by The PIMP Brigade & bypass [web]
- hmmm..
very fast demo..
i don't like very much the lack of coherence between the effects.
randomly launching a new effect every two beats makes it feel quite difficult to follow.
well, at least during the first view in the compo i liked it.. - isokadded on the 2003-04-23 23:20:14

- demo Windows PROTOZOA by Kewlers [web]
- Splendid
Very few demos actually reach the quality and maturity of this one.
Anti-conventional yes, while seeing the simplicity/cleanliness of the winning intros & demos at bp, this one is at the total opposite, which makes it very appealing. I've never seen such an amazing organic design in a demo before.
Colors are very very well chosen, making it look very photorealistic. The permanant & moving blur effect is very well used to enhance this look.
The music is very very mature too, switching from time to time between pop, idm and few very basic electro elements, as kewlers musicians can do and do well.
The soundtrack also has a lot of syncho elements, but in the demo it's very well done, it's not over-synced like it would be in many idm & techno demos and it works very nicely like it is.
I like very much the way it's directed, even if it may appear very conventional : the classical "scene after scene" show, but it actually works quite well and also features the kewlers touch in the first and the last scene.
The actual credits are even done with this old bump text effect ( an effect i usually don't like, but this time done in a very nice way ). The idea reminds me of those dogma movies which don't use any special text editing for the credits and where credit texts are actually filmed using some special natural effect ( underwater, candle lighted, flying papers.. )
Very nice that kewlers decided to release this at breakpoint, especially after their award for Variform. Doing something going in another direction was completely unexpected and I actually like that. We like to see different demos, don't we ?
Can you render this masterpiece to a video file ? I would enjoy very much watching it at full speed on my laptop.. - rulezadded on the 2003-04-22 16:56:37
