- demo MS-Dos Dis by Mandula [web]
- Thanks to whoever made the videocaptures for this video.
I put them on YouTube for convenience, since they haven't been uploaded there yet, as far as I could tell:

- demo MS-Dos Crystal Dream by Triton
- Capture from my 486DX2-80 with SB Pro: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qhym3zCa7Os
Doesn't have the visual glitches that Dosbox has, and doesn't have the grainy sound that Covox has. - isokadded on the 2012-03-21 14:05:24
- demo MS-Dos Crystal Dream by Triton
- The SB initialization routines seem to be very buggy. I originally watched this demo on a 386SX, where it worked okay, but on my 486DX2-80, it often fails to even detect my SB, or else, it falls back to internal speaker when a song changes.
I think I've fixed those problems in this patched version: http://bohemiq.scali.eu.org/crystfix.zip - isokadded on the 2012-03-14 18:20:58
- demo MS-Dos Vicky by The Space Pigs
- Triton credits TSP for the "undocumented VGA mode" in the Crystal Dream endscroller.
This mode seems to be using EGA mode 0x0D while using a VGA palette.
This demo appears to use the same trick. A sort of alternative to mode X, allowing even faster poly filling, and 'free' glenz effects.
So this might be the demo that started it.
Aside from Crystal Dream I/II I don't know of any other demos that use it. - rulezadded on the 2011-12-20 12:55:53
- demo MS-Dos Crystal Dream 2 by Triton
- Like the original Crystal Dream, this uses the super-fast hacked EGA mode 0x0D for its polyroutines.

- demo MS-Dos Crystal Dream by Triton
- Best hack ever:
They don't use a VGA mode, but EGA mode 0x0D. They use the VGA palette though. This gives them 16 colours, but a choice from the 18-bit palette.
This allows them to fill up to 32 pixels per store, and very efficient transparency/glenz effect.
That's why this demo's poly routines are so much faster than anything out there. - isokadded on the 2011-12-20 09:55:41
- demo Atari ST Virtual Escape by Equinox [web]
- Well, I was mostly an Amiga guy, although I did at one point get a 1040STe for Cubase.
But this demo is just amazing. What I always liked about Amiga was the smooth graphics, ncie 3D and such. Atari demos never seemed to reach that level of sophistication.
But this demo does! It's just incredibly smooth, and with some pretty impressive 3D!
The music is very good as well, considering the platform, although it doesn't quite reach Amiga standards. - rulezadded on the 2011-11-29 23:54:07
