well i don't see the need for "online parties" for two reasons:
first, you can ALWAYS send your work to someone who can present it for you at a party, he can be a friend or an organiser as well...
Also, parties are places to meet people and not only compete. via the net you can't meet people, so online parties can't be more entertaining than real ones.

The #1 reason on-line parties arn't as fun as 'live' parties... No 2400bps modem tossing compo!!!

But seriously, on-line compos can be a lot of fun, it's just not the same as meeting people in the flesh.

Anyway, I'm not sure folks understand that the idea isn't to REPLACE the party experience, but extend it further. No, nothing replaces meeting sceners in person. Or disk-tossing competitions. Oh, wait, we don't use disks anymore. Hmm.
