What was the first demoscene prod you saw?
category: offtopic [glöplog]
Don't know actually, but I got ass-kicked by some Lost Boys atari screens (Oh cricket whot a scorcher) and by the european demo from Overlanders...
The very first "demoscene" related stuff was a cracktro of the Batman game on Amstrad CPC, coded by Malibu Crackers. It was amazing because there was a scroller with rasters recoring the whole screen... I was 10. Then, it was on TV I watched prod such as "State of the Art". Then, I was 14 and I written to some people to send me demos (still on Amstrad CPC). And the story started..
c64/speccy cracktros..
then maybe inimitable/x-large on c64?
lyra ii/esi on speccy
vectordemo/ultraforce on pc.
perhaps state of the art/spb or deser dream/kefrens on amiga.
The first demoscene prod I saw definitely was vectdemo by ultraforce, then some 4k intros from assembly'94 - giant, o4p, s!p move, fractals!... and after them - Unreal and Secod Reality.
The first scene production I saw (must have been the first) was Slideshow by Future Crew. The problem was, that I didn't understand english back then. So there was no way to recognize something like a "scene" behind it.
The fact that I saw this production as a "youngster" came back to my mind later when I already got in touch with the scene and watched Second Reality, Crystal Dreams and productions by Cascada, S!P or others...

the first ever sceneprod i saw must've been a c64-cracktro; the first demoscene prod, or moreover demo was something from digital excess in 1990, found on my very first magic disk.
9Fingers / Spaceballs (awesome music)
Some cracktros on the Atari ST, entertaining enough to make me write some of my own.
Then, at a friend's, some amiga demos. Red Sector was probably there. Never got an Amiga, tough, but I read the Hardware Manual just for kicks.
On PC, a nice package consisting of Unreal, Cronologia & Vector Demo. That made me want to make demos so much!

Not counting cracktros, it was some Xmas demo on c64... I really can't remeber who made it... ("usual" stuph with logo and falling snow)
blah. there wasn't much of a demoscene on my platform of choice those days:(
but hey, does art.bas that came with ibm basica count?-) it draws a "growing city" in a frame with random filled rectangles and plays random notes from the beeper :) (guess it was 85 or so)

hmmm. My first demo was a demo from an Atari ST Demo group but i don't remember the group's name. Anyway the first real prodz I saw were State of the art and some musicdisks around 1992.
The prods shown at Assembly '98, I can't really remember any of them except for Barry the orange and Moottori's intro, which I liked.
Future Crew - Panic
I enjoyed it for the first time on my old 486.. I was stunned =) And only 11 years old =)

not counting all the cracktros and stuff - panic/unreal/2ndreal by future crew and crystal dreams 1/2 by triton. And some other stuff. My favorite prod from that time is still fuity fun by deus tho :)
Cracktros at C64 and early pwp stuff.
A Long time ago when i was very young (probably 1990 or something around that) i have seen some c64 cracktros, then when i got my own ibm-pc 80286 i saw a TRSI Cracktro (at least i remember this one, its not on Pouet btw). I really got in contact with the "Scene" around 3 Years ago when i saw Cryogoat 64k by Noice. I liked it alot :)
216: i don't think that counts;-) i saw similar stuff in or around 1985 as well... they were pretty cool in the eyes of a 7-year old back then;-)
First thing i ever saw was the C64 demo "Future Shock" by the Borderzone Dezign Team (around 1986) and it still rates as one of my all-time favourites.
Ummm.. around the 1990.. some Atari ST demos (i can't remember the names) ... before these demos.. some cracktros on CPC :)
now did anybody read all these posts about unintersting people saying what uninteresting demoscene prods they once saw? did anyone read this very line? i didn't.
for me it was Cristal dreams 2 by Triton in 1994.
great demo, great mod from lizardking :)
