hi there... a group of us are doing a preoject including presentation on the scene and its place in art and was wondering if fans, producers, event organisers, webmasters etc could possibly send me a bit of information about it all, from their point of view, in their eyes... if possible, could they also include names of the work they like, who its by and why (also include a bit about themselves... background, years part of scene, etc, etc...?) this would be great as I think its important the truth is told and comes straight from the mouth of those who represent the true nature of it all...

so you're basically asking us to do your project for you?

yeah, I'd fucking love to go to Breakpoint... been on the website reading up on it...! unfortunatly the presentation is before it but myself and one of the lads Im doing the presentation with have been talking about possibly going to one some time in the future...

I'll give you a bitta background about myself and why I chose to do the presentation on this art form... I'd heard about demo's and 64k intro's a while ago after reading about it in some computer mag, altho never really got round to finding out much about it.. altho I kept it in mind.. then about 2 weeks ago I was watching Will Wright's presentation for GDC and on 'Spore'... he mentions the demo scene and it gets a cheer from the crowd... I then decided to go and find out about it...! I downloaded a few demo's, "the popular demo", "Planet Risk" and "Heart" being among my faves of the lot I downloaded 1st... then a few days later we were given the list of practitioners that we could do our presentation on (Andy Warhol, Jean Michel Jarre, Bill Viola, Bruce Nauman, Survival Research Lab to name just a few)... I decided to ask the Lecturer if I could do it on the scene and some of the 'Godfathers' of it.. he agreed and seemed very interested in it also having not heard much about it before... my course that I do is Music & Multimedia Arts... so thats how it started.. Im really wanting to make a special effort with this project tho, cuz Im really interested in the whole culture, community and vibe surrounding probably one of the newest and creatively varied forms of art... the way groups are formed involving several different people with their own individual skillz that they can bring in and utilise… I understand that most of the information we gather will be from researching on the net, but to add a personal touch to it I'd love to hear from the scener’s themselves… to find out what drives them, where their inspirations come from and their own background in art and how they feel on certain things like, for example, post-modernism, todays cultures/social lifestyles…

I hope this has cleared a few things up and I hope to possibly hear more from youz…!
