how to compile without using vc7 runtime dlls
category: general [glöplog]
simply link with vc6 runtimes and voila you have the same functionality but no dependencies on vc7 libraries.
if this isn't simple enough for you guys i could spend 7 of my precious minutes and create a VS7 soloution for your eyes only.

\O/ VISUAL RASMUS 7.0 \O/
macaw, it still needs vc6 libs .. wich kindof is a problem with a fresh vc7 installation
this is beautiful ;)
*REAL* men code with Blitz Basic.
Honest.
Honest.
stefan: which is better since then it's 1 developer who needs to find those files instead of several users.
thom: "basic" and "code" are two words that never can be combined.

macaw> well as you flamed me for an intro having vc7 runtimes ... as i btw released as a demo, just for not getting any flames about that part (that the demo sucked, thats another thing:) , and it was made on a laptop with only vc7 installed, thats why i replyd :)
off for some bathing and boozing *weekend* :)

this thread was made because alkama said we should continue here instead of in the thread of his intro.
stefan:
vc6 runtimes are installed by default in 98+ (maybe also in 95b, can't remember). And those dlls are installed by quite all the programs with an installer (say, DirectX installation).
I'm sure they're NOT available on a plain 95 installation, but there's no point in considering it an demo-platform anymore.

macaw: You're so right. I apologize.
Another problem on PCs. You get a new demo and wants new updates and stuff. New DirectX, new drivers, new VC7 (I don't have VCnet for gods sake!), new something!!! Ugh...
Optimus: obviously. New PC demos are using new technology so they require new drivers/libs/etc in order to "know" the existance of this technology.
New minicomputer demos are using old technology so they don't need to know anything more.
Now stop bubbling about PCs because it's getting annoying...

Optimus, if you don't want to see demos using new technology (like dx*) then don't install the new drivers and don't watch the demo. Otherwise, keep your computer up to date.
