I've never been to a demo party before, but am planning to come to this one!
I'll be flying in, and I'm trying to decide whether I should book a hostel so I don't need to bring sleeping stuff, or rely on sleeping at the event which saves accommodation money and having to deal with transport, but means paying a bag charge with the airline. Having never been before, I don't really know what to expect...

I'd highly recommend staying at the party place, way more immersive.

For anyone coming from outside of Germany it might be useful to know that the saturday (3.10.) is a public holiday and regular shops (groceries etc) are closed then.

While we're slowly starting to prepare the resort for you we have two important announcements to make:

🐠 In order to avoid preselection in graphics and music compos, this year we will only accept remote entries for all executable, wild and animation compos!

🐠 Due to the popularity of the party in the recent years we unfortunately can’t guarantee a table space for everyone anymore. Therefore we advise you to come early if you need a table space for the entire time and would like to kindly ask you to only occupy as much table space as needed, so that other fellow sceners can get a place to work as well.

Competition News:

The theme of the photo compo this year is “3 Panel Story”:

• The image has to consist of 3 panels
  
• The size of the final image and individual panels is flexible
  
• It is allowed to add speech bubbles or similar comic staples
  
• It has to be the competitor who took the pictures, it is however allowed that individual panels were released before.
  
• Retouching is allowed. In this case, you need to provide the original photos along with the released image. If the photo was shot in Raw, a straight JPEG export with default settings is sufficient.

Important update regarding the compo rules. We were asked to clarify our rules regarding the usage of AI and came to the following refinement:

The following rules apply regarding „AI“ generated content:

• It is not allowed to use „AI“ generated content for any part of your entry. No images, no logos, no fonts, no music, no vocals, no lyrics, no 3D models, no animations, nothing. We want to see your creativity, not your prompting skills.
  
• It is OK to use first-party or third-party frameworks or tools that are partly vibecoded.
  
• The non-framework code that’s specific to your entry, however, must be written by a human being.
  
• Entries that show obvious signs of containing GenAI assets will be disqualified. This will be a subjective decision of the compo organizers, no discussion.
  
• If an entry that uses GenAI content makes it through preselection, this would be an accident, not an endorsement.

Inside Shield tracker

Join Herr Shield for a deep dive into a modern tracker built from the ground up for live performances, studio setups, and portable music making. Inspired by over a decade of working with various DAW-less hardware setups, Shield Tracker blends classic synthesizer and tracker architecture with generative sequencing techniques inspired from modular synthesizers, all customizable via a built-in programming language.

Starting from the basics, Herr Shield will explain the tracker and how it ties into his live performance setup. Next, dive into a world of custom commands, automated callback programs, and code as a live modulator dynamically altering and generating patterns on the fly.
