Prods that comment on the state of the demoscene
category: general [glöplog]
Now that Radiant finally made a demo about it, I started to wonder, what other demos there are that are about it?
Long scrollers are very ok on this thread, even though some people despise them.

I started to write long scroller but web crap timed out so this is what you get.
i mean i made a demo about it in 2019, and then truck said i dont get it, so i stopped making demos about it.
If scrollers count, there are lots and lots. Even i made one
General prods.. all kinds of diskmags then, i guess. :)

Spacepigs did one in 2018: https://www.pouet.net/prod.php?which=75780
here is one we made.
variform2 obviously was made as a response to the audience requesting more of the same but as an artist you don't make demos for their amusement but for your own! resulting in a performance art-esque 'let's make the anti-demo' instead.
thanks for the explanation
"The GDP of taiwan" was a demo made about a pouet bbs tthread.but pouet != scene so that is not relevant.
My baby vestige was perceived as commentary haha. I'll take it, because the definition of art is implied by the viewer, and it lives in their consciousness.
Good stuff. Yeah ofc pouet is not the demoscene, but also at the same time I imagine it acts as a "front page" of demoscene for many. Or maybe I'm just out of touch, I don't like non-free webapp chats.

🤣 - thats :´Dthanks for the explanation
@groepaz hahah. Lamers were killing the c=64 already back in 1988 :D 38 years later the scene is still here.
(Offtopic: But at the same time, sometimes I wonder if centralized internet forums (esp. without "ok go chill for a week" style moderation) - are doing good for the scene as just couple of people can ruin the experience for everyone else. I guess many didn't trade with people they perceived as lamers much back in 1988, but that's a topic for an another topic)

With many people active here who are never seen at any of the actual parties. :)
So anyways, this thread now seems to be more about prods with any kind of metalevel w/r/t the scene and not only specific commentary/opinion, yeah?
well, I have to say that I wouldn't have guessed some of these to be scene commentary :-D but yeah maybe I was thinking about more explicit expressions on the scene.
Even though Wrighter's 4k is absolutely beautiful and it saddens me that I can't watch it realtime (=without compression artefacts), I don't get the message through the medium without using a lot of my own imagination. :)

It's been a while I did not hear this one.

That only shows how Parties aren't "the scene" either :)
What about this one ? https://m.pouet.net/prod.php?which=86611
The demoscene
The demoscene
From shadow to light might fit, but it's more "generic" and not about a state at a precise time of the scene...
