Litlle PC demo style AMIGA :)
category: residue [glöplog]
Hello everyone,
Here's a small PC demo in Nanovg C, old-school Amiga style, made largely with the help of ChatGPT...
Just to clarify: I'm not a coder, so this demo is beginner-level. In any case, it's my way of declaring my love for demos, and my gratitude to the DemoMakers, for all the pleasure it's given me... Even today! ;)
So don't be too harsh! And enjoy!

runs at 60Hz I don't know if it can handle higher frequencies, I only have a 60Hz screen

That's not what I said, I simply did it with the means I had, I said I'm not a coder...
I respect the work, the REAL work! of coders... Respect to all real CODERS, to their intelligence and their perseverance.
ludom88: Yeah, scanning for previously know virus and malware proves this is 100% not going to do any shenanigans...

ludom88: the sha256 documented in the virustotal scan does not match with the sha256 of the binary on your page. Nice try my guy

It matches here.
I'm 53 years old, and my goal isn't to harm anyone. I just wanted to share a nod to the Amiga and Dmitry Mendeleev... I'm sure you shouldn't trust anyone, but with a little reason, just
for those who don't trust me, just run the file through an antivirus program, or better yet, online.
Sorry for creating so much confusion. If a moderator comes across this thread, they can delete it. Thanks.

Dude, in case you're confused, here's what happened:
You got inspired (good) and made a demo (allegedly, I ain't clicking on that). This would usually be cool and you might even get a couple of encouragement thumbups. And there's already our first problem: You didn't do it the right way, which is already lowkey disrespectful, and you're also admitting that ChatGPT made it – something many of us just don't fuck with (for many good reasons).
Take pride in your work, do it properly. And next time you submit, include a link to a capture so those who ain't clicking on that can see for ourselves.
Cheers

I clicked on the link directly. True, it asked me if I wanted to "keep" the file, but then it does that for almost all Amiga prods anyway, but I ran it afterwards anyway without checking it.
My display is set to 50Hz for full Amiga and PAL compatibility for all retro emulators I use, and it ran fine on that despite some tearing on the flashing inbetween bits.
However, the use of Elwood mods was rather pure plagiarism, and the effects were so-so. Running the file also created a "phase10.png" file which was 81Kb which doesn't seem to have anything in it, so that's odd.
I have yet to see if I have malware problems after, but the general consensus among Sceners is that AI like ChatGPT is a bad thing, and not something we want. Please, feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

Thank you for being objective and constructive, and you are absolutely right. For the phase10.png file, when testing the last image of phase 10, I had added a screenshot function, which I forgot to remove... so I recompiled the file, which gives it a new signature: 566211e688e937d29975d8863b3060709bb0133256b77fb5da47dbbfb956fd53

Regarding Elwood's modules, I would like to ask his permission first and I am ready to pay him. €100 per module. If anyone knows how, I can contact them because I haven't found anything online.
And yes! I realize that using ChatGPT isn't the solution... and that it's going to bother a lot of people, who will point it out to me...
Anyway, it's done, it's up to me to own up to my stupidity.
Greetings.

Thank you for this objective and constructive comment.
Yes! I understand, and I apologize to anyone I may or may offend... I'm not trying to be disrespectful to anyone; I have enormous respects
for the DemoMakers, the Amiga scene, and Pouet... for all the work they've done, and all the pleasure it gives me.
As you say, it came from a good place, but I really went about it the wrong way... Mea culpa.
Greetings

Sorry for any inconvenience... I've deleted the file. Understood.
ludo, c'est juste chaud; les gens sont à cran ici, faut se calmer et reprendre tout depuis le début, y'a des forums et/ou des discords pour aider à sortir des prods, faut se relax (take it easy) et puis tout va bien se passer.
or télécharger a youtube capture... no one runs the real .exe real-time anymore anyway :P
While I would not carelessly click on a random .exe file in a bbs post .. but that's another topic entirely ...
Don't worry, there are enough people in the scene who can at least appreciate the potential GPT might bring to the table when it comes to learning new things and trying yourself out in new creative areas where you normally would have limited or no access to because your main skills lie elsewhere. I am a musician myself but I am learning how to javascript by coding a browser demo and a game, neither of which are pure GPT prompt outputs on their own but careful analyzing and extensive modifying of individual code lines until they actually look and feel how I expect them to, and learning how functions and connected parts work together. Because they use threejs, it's an extensive pre-made scripted 3d engine anyway. There is no way I could learn how to code all this from scratch, but I can use tiny snippets and combine them to something big and appreciate that I have visuals that I can use my original music with. Seriously, GPT or LLM's aren't bad per se, it is how you use them and for what purpose that determines whether your end product will be a lame prompt-and-showoff, or an actual creative piece of YOUR work that did not exist previously. GPT is an abstraction layer, just like C++ etc. are abstraction layers, who codes assembler these days or even has a profound understanding of it? Not me, but again .. I'm just a musician. And you are not a coder either ... so don't listen to the nay-sayers, enjoy your creativity to its fullest and most important ... LEARN from it while having fun! :)
Just my two cents ..

Good Morning,
Thank you for taking the time to write your comment, which is informative and, above all, constructive.
I understand better the procedure to follow, and also that I went about it the wrong way, as others have already pointed out to me earlier in the thread...
You seem to have the attitude: "There is no good or bad attitude, you either have it or you don't, like rock! :)".
Don't let anyone tell you who or what you should be... I wish you lots of courage in your projects and your work, and above all, be positive. :)
Greetings

Good Morning,
Yes, I see it's hot, a kick in the ass doesn't always hurt :) After reading the FAQ and watching Moleman 2, I understood
that I'm going to alienate more people than anything else. The Demo universe as I once knew it on the Amiga has evolved, I just missed a train!
Anyway, as long as the sky is blue and the grass is green, life goes on.
Greetings
Plz put it back, I want to try anyway.
