RIP Stingray
category: general [glöplog]
Just found out that my fellow glöperator and Desire member Stingray recently passed away, as per https://eab.abime.net/showthread.php?t=120678. We had noticed his online absence some time ago and tried to make contact to figure out what was going on. Unfortunately it now turns out all that was in vain.
Rest in peace Ben, and thanks for all the good times.

Very sad. Rest in piece Stingray. Knew him for +30 years. He always had an open ear for me.
That is sad news, such a massive contributor to the Amiga scene (games and demos) and while I never met him in person, we had the occasional talk online and he was a very knowledgeable and down-to-earth guy and very helpful.
RIP Stingray, you will be missed :(

FFS :(
Oh goddamn. Stingray, always kind, always with an open ear. Way to early gone, i just thought, you took only a break from scene only to learn today, that you passed away many months ago.
My thoughts are with your family and your groups. Thank you for all you have done, especially to the Amiga Scene and the "WHDLoad" staff.
Rest in peace !

This was a real bummer to hear, will miss you buddy! RIP
RIP BEN :(
I had some chats with him on Facebook ...
So damn sad!

Rest in peace, thanks for all the coding help and IRC chats over the years.
Incredible sad news. Rip :(
Stunningly tragic news :( He was definitely one of the real ones, insanely skilled and yet so lowkey - he will leave a gaping void in his wake. :(
We've only been briefly in personal contact I think, but beyond that, his skill and dedication was always evident. He will be leaving a void, indeed. RIP.
Rest in peace... :(
Oh no that’s terrible news :(
He has been an immense contributor to the amiga scene in particular as well as the Demoscene in general.
Though it’s a while ago I worked together with him (and the rest of Scarab) on amiga productions it still hits me hard.
RIP Stingray and thank you for all your fantastic contributions and spirit within our community.

Such sad news :( I was just thinking about Stingray today. I fondly remember talking with him at the Mekka/Breakpoint/Revision parties up through the years. Always very helpful and friendly. He has this mad ability to find out what's not working from just looking at binaries (he made more than 1000. WHD load fixes for games and demos!) And let's not forget the awesome 96K remake of Lotus Turbo Challenge
Rest in peace, I will miss you

Oh no, this isn't the news I wanted to read today, or ever. :(
I got to know him when as a n00b Amiga orga I pissed him off at some Breakpoint party, by uncovering a small bug in his demo, which made the entry difficult to capture (it was all-green on the capture device, instead of the expected colors, but it worked on a CRT!). But after the first outbursts of disbelief, he realized the bug, and promptly fixed it. We laughed it off at the end, and had many cheerful chats at various parties. I will miss you man.
I can only repeat what Gargaj and Saga said about his skills and dedication. RIP.

Oh no not Stingray! Such a wonderful, lovely man. I spent so much time with him at mekka and breakpoint. RIP to a true Amiga scene legend.
RIP :'(
He died already last year, aged 9 years younger than me That's really crazy — he died way too soon! Now I can't sort anything out with him. I would never have expected that.
See you on the other side brother, I will sooo fucking miss you.
A truly dedicated to the scene, may you never be forgotten!!
R.I.P., Ben. :(
RIP Stingray!
I’ve only just heard the news myself. I have goosebumps and I’m utterly shocked. My thoughts are with everyone who knew Sting. Rest in peace, Sting.
Thanks for everything. I'm really going to miss you!
