moderation on pouet today
category: general [glöplog]
I don't want nor is my intention to be provocative.
Just honestly curious as I believe Gargaj's moderation period is over as he declared - by the end of last year.
Still I find Pouet performing just fine, so is there any hard line moderation replacement already in motion or we're just running OK... by luck?

I've seen posts that I personally would have removed if I were moderator (but I'm not, and have no intention of becoming one). I guess there's a spectrum between “everything is fine” and “Pouët is 99% trolling and flaming”, and nobody really expected the latter to happen overnight.
Can't it be both?
what is a "hard line moderation replacement"
In my opinion, the issue of moderation and all the ‘terrible flame wars and trolling’ on Pouet is way overblown. Throw stones at me if you want, but I honestly can't remember a single BBS thread in the past couple of years that needed urgent moderation. Sure, there are occasional posts from some pretty weird folks... but it's really not that bad.
Havoc, I meant, somebody is actually doing if after Gargaj resigned
It*
Maybe Gargaj has more time now for great new Conspiracy 64kb's
hollowone: sure
Maybe the flame wars and trolling happened on somewhere else in closed places like discord / fecesbook and then culminated here somehow? Dunno.

Pouët is to be understood as a Durkheimian organic society. Crime and other misdemeanors have an indispensable social function to maintain the social coherency. Therefore there is no way to get rid of them: in the society of saints even the smallest transgression would cause a big scandal.
An ignore function might be nice though..
All I tried to imply by my question is that pouet is relatively business as usual, no drama, so I wondered if there is replacement and working well or we just self regulate and maybe all the drama was about some heat wave, not a standard behavior. But I got my answer. Thank you.

So that is an excuse to have zero moderation at all. Okay then.
I guess people see so much unnecessary drama elsewhere that it just becomes tiring.
dojoe :) <3

maybe it's because the moderators are (or were?) doing a great job, and these things were deleted before you could see them?

Yes! The discourse on social media is getting worse and worse (and AI bot infested) - let's have some retreats of people being nice to each other online for once. <3
Idk, another theory is, some were doing it just to annoy Gargaj. Now that he doesn't care anymore, what's the point ;P
