So what Azarro said definately... or i need to skip PC demo compo again..

If you think it's rough to stay up until 2am for a 25-entry demo compo, just imagine what it'd be like to organise a compo of that size with 2-3 hours less than normal. Especially when you consider what proportion of those entries is pleading for deadline extensions and asking for last-minute re-tests on the compo machine...

Would it not help to have the deadline earlier?

(and move a compo block (all music stuff f.e.) to the not-so-interesting-friday to create more leeway in the compos/deadlines schedule?)

I said "nap", not "full night's worth of sleep in a cushy bed". =)

And right away "why can't you just swap these two events around" has turned into "why can't you just shuffle these four events around and/or shift several orgas' schedules by a few hours". We have people (not me) with big-ass spreadsheets to manage this stuff, and you can bet that they are working with many more variables than we could possibly account for in a thread like this.

(Moving music compos to Friday night: those would be handled by Bitch, who is also kitchen lead during build-up and will be up at something like 6am to make breakfast for the rest of the team. Trust me, you do not want to create more work for Bitch on Friday evening. He has access to knives, you know.)

Also some people might find the music stuff interesting enough to have some of it not on the "not-so-interesting-friday".

I also wouldn't be surprised if you couldn't even run music compos on Friday due to Tanzverbot. That's why the first DJ acts start at midnight, after all.

Speaking from personal experience, lots of people haven't even _arrived_ at the venue until late on Friday, bit unfair on them also.

Maybe you don't save that much time, but moving Amiga Demo back to Saturday (didn't it used to be on Saturday night?)

Or move PC 8K and 64K to Saturday night.

Move Shader qualify to alternative location and have music compos instead.

Afternoon (s)naps is a thing....bring a pillow and blanket from the hotel and have a snooze somewhere.

no but for real, i don't want to say "no more musicdisks", but having several of them in the wild compo is tedious

Musicdisks are great, but maybe not that exciting in the wild compo. How about releasing it during the party (like back in the day) , and the beam team can put up slides advertising this and that musicdisk,slideshow,pack are now up on pouet. Or even randomly show it in all its length on the second stage at a free moment if the author is allowed to.

Music Disks are IMHO better suited for smaller parties - while you typically reach a larger audience by releasing at Revision, the very same audience is more likely to have forgotten after the end of the compo due to the large number of compo entries per compo block...
