Silly Venture 2022 Summer Edition - celebrating the 50th ATARI Anniversary!
category: parties [glöplog]
Close, closer... even closer! :) In a few days we will celebrate the 50th anniversary of Atari together... with ATARI! A precedent like never before! :) Are you ready?! :) It will be real emotional roller-coaster! :D Starting from the new venue to attractions - especially on Saturday! I also mean competitions that will be equally exciting :) For every ATARI platform we have declared coded entry! For some, much more than one :) An example? In the demo category e.g. Atari 2600 - 3 entries, Atari XL/XE - 8 or Atari ST/STe - 6 are declared :) It will be great Saturday night! So please consider purchasing one of the tickets to support SV and future editions - it's worth it! The stream itself is of course free, but the purchase of one of the tickets will also allow you to participate remotely by voting for your favorite entries!
Link to tickets below:

And in the winter, we meet at the "aftermaths" - December 8-11 (Thursday-Sunday), which also will be exciting in the topic of entries :) More STRONG competition prods are coming and even more people from abroad!
May the power of ATARI be with you! 💪💪💪💪
A little update! The 7th demo for Atari STe was released, but the authors want it to go in the WILD category. And why, you will find out at the party (and during the stream)! 🙂 A
nyway, there will also be some gems in the Wild category! :)

I'm probably Silly, but can't find the stream. Link anyone?

I asked the same question about the previous SillyVenture. They'll eventually provide a youtube live stream link here. Hopefully...maybe...
There will be at least one unofficial stream from here too, probably on my Twitch channel as of later on today. Setting up is still largely going on at the moment.

Official stream says it's private?
As the organizer of SV2022SE, I tried to do my best to honor the 50th anniversary of Atari with you - hence such an unusual place, the patronage of Atari over the event and great prizes - some have already been picked up during our event, the rest will be sent by traditional mail. The result of cooperation between SV and Atari is among other things this movie. Enjoy!

As far as I know the scene, the productions once released, should never be re-released. Especially on another party.
Thus the works for the Atari 8 bit graphics competition (linked versions are from Amstrad CPC) "Stormbringer" and "Night Knight" should have been disqualified.
I do not know whether the author considers to re-re-release these (and other) pictures on some other parties for yet different platforms. I hope not.

...Missed "Adelle" for C64, also released previously...

If the re-release is for the same platform, sure. But what's the problem releasing on another platform? Ports of demos are often released at parties without issue.

I think there is a huge misunderstanding...
Due to the HW evolution, the ports were possible. But still, it was a brand new code!
Noone would ever release an MSDOS demo already released on some compo as a "new" Windows "port" on another party.
And back, in the days, so-called ports were not accepted nor possible.
Fibble-san, if I follow your logic, then dudes are allowed to release - let's say - the same music (modules, sids, saps, yms, mp3s) on different parties, on different platforms but with a slight different play-time or pattern improvement.
Or, convert with a tool (or "re-pixel") the same gfx and "release" them on the up-coming parties.
Yes? Do you imagine?
If I remember, party rules say it explicitly: only new, unreleased productions are allowed.
Unless, something different stated ;)...
But then, well, in the present World...
On the one hand, I agree with sim in general - in fact, that part is missing the compo rules tough. On the other hand, it has never been an issue. The A8 graphics system is quite different from the rest of the world (and limited in many ways) and porting a good C64 or CPC graphics takes quite good skills and time investment. So I see it as a good thing if artists support the platform in that way.
Last part of the compo video which was truncated in the main video by yt.
jac, have you looked at those pictures? they're pixel-for-pixel the same...
sim: Yes, I completely misunderstood your point sorry!

Hello Fibble-San,
All good. I wished to make my thoughts clear and share them with hope ppl do share and understand that exclusivity-release idea, since it deos not only affect the party but also the author.
And, if it is outta the party, no problem. It is not the question here.
BR =).

Yes, of course, I saw that. And of course, for these simple 4 color pictures, there is not really much to discuss. On the other hand, a 1:1 conversion of most good C64 or CPC graphics would be a real achievement and worth the ranking. What I see is that people at SV typically judge that accordingly. And I wouldn't want to bother the small part orga team with dupe checks in advance. Maybe next time the artist releases for the Atari and then the C64 party has the blame :-)

This guy - Katoyama should hmm let me say it politely; rethink his thinking, on Polish C64 Party this year called Moonshine Dragons he submitted like 21 very low quality entries some being obvious conversions.
(Un)Fortunately after showing 10th pieces either second side of the disk sent was somehow broken or the organisers just ran out of patience.
Compare that to the behavior of a winner piece that was pixelled e n t i r e l y using joystick on real C64 over timespan of 4 months.
1st place at MD 2022

We publish the first group (panoramic) photo from SV2022SE by Kijop. Next soon! Unfortunately, not everyone got a photo together, admiring the others at the same time nooks of "Olivia Star".
