MAGFest Demoparty 2020
category: parties [glöplog]
Just like last time, we are organizing a demoparty at the Music and Gaming Festival in close vicinity of Washington, D.C between the 2nd and 4th of January. We're going to have a separate room for our purposes open (almost) 24/3 with an ongoing demoshow, workshops, presentations and - what is the most important - competitions!
Last time (I keep writing "last year" but it's not true yet) we had great support with over 30 entries, both local and remote. We are hoping for a similar response this time too! The rules and compos are very simple, all the details are available here. We're working with SceneSat to provide a stream again. When you send a remote entry, you'll be able to vote. Competitions will be held at 6 PM EST (23:00 CET) on Saturday.
We'd also like to apologize for such a short notice of this announcement (the party is basically in a month's time) but the presence of demoscene at MAGFest hadn't been confirmed till about a week ago since MAGFest as an organization is undergoing significant changes in the management. Both the Polish Cultural Institute in New York and the Polish embassy in DC are supporting us again to make this happen.
If you have an entry that you can submit, do it. Or start working on it now! Or maybe see you there?
AceMan, Inverse Phase and Fei

In attendance, for better or worse. Deadline for remote submissions is today, but could there be later submissions for party coding? Hope is minimal since I just recently accomplished hello moving triangles with OpenGL.
Shout out to Todd and best of luck.

Qintix: sure, just send a placeholder so that we can put it into the system and you can keep working on it till the compos.
Hey people, we need entries! Dust off your virtual drawers!

Call for bonzomatic shaders from anyone who wants their demos to pop up on a 10m jumbo screen! #demoscene output resolution of the display is 3840x1080 so keep that in mind when scaling textures and stuff on 16:9 displays! :) #Magfest2020 #MAGDemoparty

We will post pictures of your shaders running :)
Code:
Error LNK1120 42 unresolved externals SDL2_raw
Graphics coding is fun. Linker and dependency administrivia is not. It compiles and runs fine on my mac, and I'm not using any mac specific dependencies :/
Maybe next year.
Two quick thoughts, Fei: Games aren't big because "Gamedev is all about money", and no, we couldn't reduce game size significantly via procedural techniques. :)
Anyone else getting 403 on Fei's links?
@Gargaj: I think there could be improvements, for example in patching but okay, I might have gone too far with this one.
@QUINTIX: I linked to the clips from Hangouts someone had sent me and it doesn't seem to be working. Here's a photo I took.
