Asimov asks: how do people get new ideas?
Rediscovered, old essay on creativity by Asimov that seems quite relevant to the demoscene. Example quote: "Once you have the people you want, the next question is: Do you want to bring them together so that they may discuss the problem mutually, or should you inform each of the problem and allow them to work in isolation?"

Work in isolation prevents epidemics. ;)
to co-design or not to co-design, that's the question!
The answer is “both”
Krawallbrause. It works.
It is know that high creativity requires big balls. And, in some special cases, also metaballs.
Creativity is lot to be asked for. But watching recent Atari ST/STe demos is a good start for getting some inspiration.
make sure the balls do not touch
creativity is like a fart - if you force it, there will be shit
Nice essay! I think if you got a weird demo idea make sure to develop it enough for others to get your point (images or sounds can be presented). Then it is less likely to be cut down by the group.
Then bring in the rest of the team who will proceed to do random stuff because they aren’t getting paid for this shit. But somehow that part with sid hiphop music and a spitfire plane on top becomes most memorable.

Nagz, wise words.
Two heads think better than one for sure, but sometimes you might prefer to work alone.
Also, I believe that knowledge is a great fuel for creativity. In demos coding, for example, it helps a lot to know well the hardware limits to be able to create nice things.
Last but not least, having lots of *free time* to spend on being creative. This is very hard to be creative when you have no time for it. =)

Any tips on creativity here? I personally enjoy to wake up early (sometimes really early..) in the morning to code because my brain is "fresh" at that time and complex tasks appears easier to tackle.

Virgill, bad memories? :)
