In the past, I was very upset when people reacted negatively to my releases, and much of it was purely personal. Whether it was because of my remixes or just because I'm the one I am.
In the end, what counts is that you like what you do and if others do not like it or they bully you in any way for it, then just ignore it because you can settle for something very simple: People who bully you or rate your things negatively just have too small dicks.
And once you have internalized that understanding, negative comments will just go unnoticed for you.

First, you should get around 10% of thumb down... and for that you need a minimum numbers of comments left.
Second, failure and critics can be hard to receives but they can be also the most valuables things in order to improve your productions in long run.
So how to react to it? Don’t answer or comments right away, if hurt... read back the good one or enjoy your prod once again. Later (days, weeks) read back and try to read them as you were not involve in that project... is there anything you could have change and end up with a better prod? If yes, then take it as a suggestion.
Just like with teachers, sometimes the stricts and serious one can give you the strenght and discipline to go further, while the easy and happy ones will make you relax and laught... we need both.

So what can we learn from a person who downvotes everything in a category (certain author/group, certain demo type, like text mode) ? Improve by not being you/not doing certain type of demos?
I've learned to value feedback that isn't in line with what my vision for something was; it's not easy, but it is useful in the long run. However, there's a lot of "feedback" out there that's not constructive.

@groepaz, ignoring the trolls is easy, it is true. However, it is harder to ignore your prod pages becoming vandalized while having no control over it. It also does not help that after a while fewer people watch your prods, because they do not want to have to deal with the chaos in comments.
Basically, ignoring works as long as it is about your personal feelings. If you actually happen to also care about the work you do, well, 16 pages of this thread must be hinting at something...

people who dont watch your prods because of whatever comments are idiots. ignore them.

I agree with groepaz. You can't change people just because you want them to. Trolls will be dealt with accordingly by glöperators when and however they want to act. It's up to you if and how you react to the situation. Ignoring the troll has the least harmful consequences all things considered.
I never really read comments before watching and only read them when my insterest is piqued by what I saw. I get how negativity can be depressing, but I do not think that angry comments reduce watch count. At least so it is for me, primarily a passer-by. That's the best consolation that I can offer.
I've unfortunately had to deal with relatives with mental problems and the one thing I've learned from it is that you cannot change how people act if they don't want to change - you can only take precautions to avoid them and be responsible for your own feelings. You have the power to ignore crappy stuff and concentrate on the good.
groepaz is right, but I would add even more to that - people who don't watch your prods just because you got 8th place in the competition are not worth your grief either!
