But seriously. How about a drug free demoparty?
category: general [glöplog]
I mean, the other thread was closed, asking me (and other thread necrophiliacs) to make a demo about it. But obviously a demo against alcohol would place last, and a demo with beer in it would have a chance :) No question.
So how about it? :) Scoopex has actually won a democompo at a drug- and alcohol-free demoparty. Can you match that? ;)

Plenty of demoparties where drugs and alcohol aren't allowed inside the partyplace.
And no one is stopping you from organizing your own.

Beware! Demos are strong drugs!
From gopher://blacksmurf.dromland.se/1/demo:
The Demoscene - an artform
A demoscene production, or a demo for short, is a way to show off one's
skill in realtime audiovisual programming of computers. The realtime
part is important, since it's harder to make the computer calculate the
effects on the fly rather than have it pre-render them forever and a
day beforehand.
To the uninvited it looks like weird screensavers, to the initiated it's
like a drug.

Photon, you go organize an Amish Demoparty, and i give you one months worth of no drugs (Caffeine is a drug, Nicotine is a drug, Alcohol is a drug, etc.) on my behalf.
Stereotypically, artists are a hedonistic bunch who drink a shit ton and take loads of drugs.. well, the good ones do at least.
i do not concur with these sentiments at all!
i would like to be excluded from this narrative.
Assembly.

And like most stereotypes, there's very little truth to it.
Anyway, I would say the overwhelming majority of demoparties are drug-free - in my experience as average age continued to grow the most sought-after drug in the last few years was ibuprofen :)
:D

and the reason for this thread is?
it's caused by giant turtles which want to eat all contaminated potatoes on the earth when
sorry, wrong thread.
Gargaj, it seems you don't know any artists in reality.
:(
let's have a fun free demoparty
you have to drink a shot to enter a compo.
Do we talk about law and order, stereotypes or do we talk about free will and doing? The last point also is ment to "third person fantasy" and "first person fantasy about possible third person fantasy" and "abvious wrong third person fantasy that should be your actual thinking too" (=wars, violence, prohibition, religions (sects), drama aso blablabla)
The goal is: Don't get used by chemical substances. Use it! But don't step other people on the feets. Believe me, I'm gonna puke after three beers in a row before getting real drunken. Not my drug but four beers over the night maybe ok! ^^ maybe... I think this matches to most other substances. A 100% clear party will be also 100% party that will be survived but aren't we old enough to handle this for ourselves without have to do this, have to do that stuff. Yes we aren't. lol
<- don't belive him

That's how a good portion of laws work, don't they?
Yes. You were able to identify the concept! ;) I'm trying to question the way people are so quick to suggest adding laws. Shouldn't that be a shameful last resort when everything else fails? Could drug use be handled as a matter of interpersonal skills or something? Anyway, I appreciate Photon bringing up the subject. I don't think it would be easy to tell someone at a party that you might enjoy it more if they weren't under the influence.
No one in their right mind and age 40+ can't bear the hangover of serious multi-day boozing anyway anymore.
