Sceners with VR
category: general [glöplog]
So, who here has got themselves VR headsets and have thought about hanging out in Altspace or VRChat and watch demos on youtube and talk about assembly coding?
Guess not, ima try facebook
I did a demoshow on Altspace when I still had a headset, current PC setup didn't support the DK2 so I sold it
Altspace is so ugly. Its not mataverse of my kind...
I have an Oculus DK1. It has some fun stuff to play around with but support was dropped HARD by Oculus and the homebrew scene didn't really take off. It doesn't need much horsepower to run which is a plus.
I still wanna Make a Demo For It.
Doesn't look like either Altspace or VRChat support the DK1 but I didn't look too far into it. They also seem to be windows only which isn't gonna work for me.

I have a cardboard VR headset for my smartphone. \o/ Can I join? 😃
gearvr & psVR here
rez/Area X is a live demoshow projected directly into your mind.

While my interest about VR is yet to be established I'd just like to point out that neither the Vive nor Oculus officially supports this country just yet for whatever braindead reason.
No VR yet, am intrigued, but not sure I have the money for that kinda toy yet, considering the library for it so far. Will jump on later though when I get the possibility.
If you just want to try ideas out I'd really recommend going the Unity route for VR. Easiest implementation on headsets, even with projects you've already been working on.
Altspace supports GearVR and is supposed to support Cardboard/Daydream soon
VRChat looks much better (with proper full body IK avatars), but noone is using it for some reason.
Yes it sucks that it's Windows only but maybe Linux support is coming.
If it wasn't for Visual Studio and graphics hardware support we could all just ditch windows forever :)
@Gargaj: What does "not supported in this country" mean? I guess you can't order it with your country as a destination?

I've got a Vive. Specifically for use at @party, but also to see what's out there and to do some personal development. My personal favorite application is Tiltbrush, hands down. Can't say I've had much motivation to join a VR chatroom though.
I have a bunch of VR headsets at work, they all suck with my glasses (except psVR, that headset is p good)
also yeah, rez in psvr is p fun to play
Got quite a few HMDs here, too bad Oculus dropped Linux support and locked out my Windows system by requiring me to have a CPU that supports SSE 4.2 and the "latest" graphics drivers(which I have but their stupid driver did not recognize them as being the "latest" the last time I tried).
In addition to that I'm not very keen of hanging around in some unity sandbox somebody cobbled together in a few days to get some of that sweet VR hype...

We got a good selection of recent HMDs at work (Oculus, Samsung, Google, HTC) and also Mixed Reality glasses (Vuzix, Epson, Microsoft). They are all great for different reasons and applications, but I currently don't want to hang out in them, especially not for the sake of "assembly coding".
I´d wish the PSVR had a proper pc support.. Anyone tried Shadertoy VR ?
I have the Oculus Rift.
I have a vive and an dk2 occulus - the vive is far and away the best.
One day, make a demo abou tit...

I have a DK2. Didn't do anything codewise with it rather than easily testing stuff in Unity.
I'm looking forward to seeing Navis' VR tit-demo.

steam keys for preview available on request. (vive or oculus with controlers required)
now that looks like the best use of VR ive seen yet.
I have the Oculus Rift.
