scene music stolen

category: music [glöplog]
Well, that depends... If the groups in question keep submitting copyright claims then at some point he'll get his account suspended, which will stop it quite effectively.

It was remarkably easy btw, so I recommend other content owners to do the same.

It isn't. Gloom was referring to the video mentioned in the second post on this site.

Guys, what you do here is wonderful, of course, but how do you check that the person who has used demoscene footage did not ask for permission? How do you deduce that the music is, as you put it, "stolen"?

YouTube is built in such a way (unfortunately) that it is very easy to send any amount of claims, whereas the channel owner has huge amount of limitations to respond to these claims. If you want to take someone's channel down all you need to do is to send several dozen claims and they are mostly done.

I asked the other two guys of the group I'm in.

In this case - I understand, it is your group. But is this "standard procedure", so to speak?

I don't think anyone ever has submitted a claim for something that isn't theirs, if that's what you mean.

Ok, then I am happy :)

Louigi: you can't submit a claim unless you are the copyright holder. People posting in this thread are the ones who discover where scene creations are used and if the content owners notice it (like Gargaj above), it's a small task to ask around saying "Did you guys okay this? No? Then copyright claim it is."

I've allowed my music to be used in a few YouTube videos without issue. I only submit claims for the ones that just blatantly steal and don't credit. It has happened a fair bit with the same YouTube users though, so I kinda wonder how much it'll take to permanently ban someone form YouTube. I mean, if the guy has had 10+ copyright claims successfully posted against him and his channel is still up...? That's weird.

Is it just me, or does the song "Voice in the Wall" by "Rezz" sound like a certain demotune?
