The legacy of Nextempire

category: general [glöplog]
I am a proud ex-member of Phun, Vision, Bonzai Bros, Dual-Crew/Shining and Scoopex...so it´s obvious: i´ll release under the label of Shining! ;)
Oh, wait, i dreamt of having been a member of the Polka Bros once, so imma release under the label of Kefrens ofcoz! ;)
That's pretty fair :p

Serpent: they are ace...but stay true: you and me could do them aswell! ;) Atleast i am almost about to release sth that is atleast as good as Baudsurfers stuff...let Assembly and Evoke go away so i can pimp it atleast...then you´ll see!

I am quite surprised by such a proudness. But well, what ppl can do to show that they can do the same. Ha, show that you can do better...

I´d rather join RTI (Raving Tomatoe Inc. instead ;)

OK. Good luck than at the Assembly and Evoke compos.
I hope these parties gonna be great =)

@Serpent:
I have noticed that too late, that your nick at the beginning of my quotation was, in fact confusing.
Peace dude.

PS. That's why in pouet2.0 I had proposed an author in the quotation option.

I think I promised someone at some point I'd look in to it ... still haven't. (Sorry!) but there is an Greasemonkey script I wrote in that one Pouet user scripts thread that will automatically add quote attributions when you click the post quote link. Not as nice as being able to just supply it as an attribute to the quote code, but at least it's automatic. :)
Now I'm afraid that Reed has files about everybody in the scene. POUETLEAK IS COMING.
lol!

just fuckin lol!

I am quite new to this and maybe i shoud just shut up, but since it also kind of spread to csdb, i am asking myself:
- if all sources unanimously lack information that a certain individual was a founding member of a certain group,
- and if there is no proof whatsoever, in an otherwise information-rich scene, that could validate certain claims,
why would that individual then insist in sticking to these (obviously false) claims? (Whats the true benefit, since everybody else seems to remember differently?)

One thing, that i believe to *know* about this scene is, how much ego is involved and i think everyone has made damn sure that his/her name was listed in each and every production he/she was involved in.

So, if you're not on the list, even if you remember you were, wouldn't that suggest, that the part you took in history was not notable?

Oh and why does the profile Info have this real name:
http://www.pouet.net/user.php?who=34375

but then, on the linked demozoo website, this individual is linked:
http://olivier.poudade.free.fr/

And i know some speak french in Canada, but isn't this a 100% french person? (RS is US/Canadian?)

Extremely confusing.

"Some speak French in Canada" -> this is called Quebec...
"100% French person" -> what is wrong with you? People can't live abroad for a while? People with French name can't live outside of France?
"Obviously false" -> try harder, I'm still not convinced.

(My last name is German, I hope me claiming I'm French will not sound "obviously false")

In history there's what is called The believing and the knowing.
The knowing is based on facts, on proofs.
The believing is what people think or say without any hitorical proofs or facts.

What wersthahl probably meant was that the Canadian BBS of RSI was US/Canadian and not from Quebec.

Does "probably" belong to "believing" or "knowing" ?
And Quebec is a province in Canada.
added on the 2016-09-03 16:26:05 by fra fra
"probably" belongs to "believing" as I don't yet have the abilities to read in people's minds...
Quebec is the only french speaking province of Canada, the rest is english speaking.

Don't misunderstood me, I'd like to believe but knowing is better than believing.
Baudsurfer is for sure a good asm coder and that should be enough. Claiming he is the founder of RSI or the first ever person having coded chess game in asm is just "claiming" as long as he never gives any proofs of what he is claiming.

I a pologize for not having investigated further, he actually states to having emigrated from canada to france. http://www.pouet.net/prod.php?which=63518#c691474

in that thread, a certain issue of phrack is also mentioned which for me allows the "(obviously false)" i dared to suspect.
http://phrack.org/issues/44/2.html

I find it interesting though, that there is so much doubt in this topic. Call me a wimp, but i personally would have totally refrained from using or releasing that Brand/Acronym as soon as i faced a bunch of confirmed Members wo are not willing to associate with me. That must feel horrible.

I can't believe this is still being discussed.
