ATARI SUX!
but it had midi... you needed an extension on amiga for that ;) amiga sux! ym owns ;)
midi was cheap interface
ym sound vs. Paula
Amiga wins - Flawless victory

midi is rs232 with 32500bps and TTL voltages. 8 data bits (highest bit used as command seperator on level 2), one start, one stop bit. What's so special about that? ;)
and ym si teh sux too, especially considering that there already was a way better synth chip in that ole commodore machine ;)

bah! sid always sucked! ay forever! ;)
wtf is "ay"? ;)
bah! :p
^^
the icon "backgrounds" (borders) are not consistent: for about the half of them, there are two pixels missing in the top/right and bottom/left corners.
also, the msx icon (which sucks anyway) has some horrible color resolution problems.
and some icons are simply bad, like msdos/gus (but the msdos icon rules bigtime!), sega, msx, etc.
i tried to make a new gus icon, but it seems that the gravis logos are impossible to reproduce in such a low resolution (also, maybe using 2x3 pxels wide borders in 16x16 icons is a bit luxurious? :)
so i propose something like the standard msdos icon with a light blue/magenta background...

blala: I already pointed the aliasing problem on some icons. Regarding the msx icon, isn't closer to the real logo ?
About the msdos/gus icon I did from a purple spiral icon, but didn't have a reference logo. But I have one now, so, I'll probably post an icon in few minutes
Anyway, feel free to make and post some icons ;)

ms dos/gus ( round 2 ) :
since there's a separate category for "ms dos/gus" prods, what about "windows / nvidia only" and "windows / ati only"?
No, I'm against it. There are win 3d-acc demos which need a Voodoo card, there are win demos which need a non NT Win32, ...
exactly. either make separate categories for ALL silly variations, or cut it down to the basics (machine type + os)
I'm a supporter of ditching the "ms dos/gus"-category aswell. i mean, it's kinda obvious that most dos-stuff requires a gus.
I wholeheartedly agree.
:'( you mean I made 2 version of the "ms dos/gus" icon for nothing.
Actually I agree too
Actually I agree too
I don't agree. I go everytime angry when I want to start a demo on one of my DOS machines (at different locations in .de) and it needs exactly that card, that's not in the machine.
dear p01, who do you think would associate your beautiful new icon with the gravis ultrasound card?
the classic picture associated with GUS is the waterdrop one. google didn't found any image of it, but i found one in a pdf document on the gus cd. but you won't make any recognizable 12x12 icon from that :)
also, the "ultrasound" logo and the (classic!) gravis logo is too wide to fit...
ok i'll do a version of my idea in some minutes

Just for some fun, try to find out which one is the most subtle quote for the same statement:
Ok, serious again, why don't you take the ms-dos icon for both categories? Why don't you take the blue Sega-S for both, Mega Drive and Master System?

blala: any people visiting gravis.com would recognize it :p but indeed that's not the good-old logo.
Google returned a lot of GUS PnP logos ( with the big wave ), and that's certainly a no-no for a 10x10 icon ( the borders do take 3 pixels on each side )

ok you guys won't manage, and after all, the "ms-dos" bit is more important than the "gus" bit nowadays, i guess. so just do 'c:\' with a different colour or sth.
oh that's kinda what madenmann already said. sorry for stating the obvious.
Blabla: there are no missing pixels or antialising problem, the original icons are like that, it's part of their design, they are not symetric:
Some of the plateforme icons are now different because the original shape was not respected, as I already mentioned it ;)
