Assembly 2016?
category: parties [glöplog]
@mikron: we're all human here, with our own hopes and dreams and everything! :)
Compo crew has been great, thanks.
Regarding the 70 Hz issue, I think it would have been best to use a 60 Hz mode to begin with. I was initially using a 60 Hz mode but had to ditch it very late, for *ahem* technical reasons. The root cause of all that is, of course, starting too late. (Well I spent most of the weekend doing music for another entry, which wasn't planned... But it was a nice prod)
Anyway. Now I have a working development toolkit. Maybe next year I'll be less of a Dosbox lamer and have working hardware for testing.

No matter when the deadline is, you always need one more hour.
Is AssemblyTV available as a non-browser stream (liked it used to be?)
I hope both of the concerts (from Wiklund and Kebu) are shown via the stream. Would be a shame if that didn't happen. I remember they showed Kebu's previous concert at Assembly live as it happened, a few years ago ....

started working on technologies in the spring and actively worked on it till today since 1-2 weeks ago. with that kind of scale it's un-possible to predict such thing by the hour especially with real world taking a lot of time randomly. I'm with Gloom. If you are just 2h, 6h, 12h late than just start earlier.
now about the whole thing treating the deadline as an actual deadline. fair point sure but putting the deadline in the middle of the week and very little flexibility makes difficult from the creators perspective too.
now i cannot be really too angry about this since you're doing amazing volunteering work on a tight schedule and you have a shit ton of work to do but i can not help it to be a little pissed off(also at myself) since a lot of people spent time on this production and this was one of the main things this summer i was looking for to be part of making sure that there is a high quality oldschool compo this year. and then to get it ruined by a sudden unexpected bug but fairly easy to fix bug and a mid of the week deadline, very hard thing to swallow personally.
@branch: fix the bug, have a beer and drop the bomb at another party :)
branch: well, the possibility to update your entry after the deadline should never be taken for granted, only as an added bonus if it's possible.
and in general, these deadline suck for everyone, but it's way it is this year. hopefully next year we can be more flexible again.
@Puryx: If nothing else, livestreamer (livestreamer.io) can pick out the Twitch HLS stream and feed it to VLC or whatever.
Let's hope for better deadlines next year, indeed. Having mid-day deadlines in the middle of the week sucks if you're one of the people who have a job and all that comes along with it.
Sesse: yep - actually got that set up - ended up using Twitch on PS3 though for conveinience in the living room :)
I didn't know it worked on PS3; I use VLC on my HTPC for living room AsmTV :-) But it's a bit sad that everything is going Twitch and Facebook these days. And even the “Source” quality is seemingly 720p30 at a rather variable 4 Mbit (the 1080p option was dropped).
AsmTV production is great as always, though!

REMOVE TIMESTAMP, PLEASE
(Sesse: ypu jinxed it ;) )
Ah - now it's gone
Sesse: they can't all be the Solskogen stream :)
@gloom: Can you get Assembly's content (compo entries and compo studios) to Solskogen? I'll do the stream. :-P
It'll be a challenge, I'll say as much :)
is/will there be a vid of the kebu concert? I sadly missed it...
none of the concerts were (video) streamed, so...
surprised seven won the 1k with a landslide (even though it was a good entry)
4k winner seemed obvious
happy to see quite & t-rex win the democompo, their entry has more replay value than the rest.

The concerts were not streamed, but Kebu had someone recording his show. He's planning to put it on his Youtube channel (https://www.youtube.com/user/kebunator). As this is won't be done by ASMORG, I don't know when the video will go up.
Thanks orgas for great streaming to us sofasceners :)
