scene music stolen
category: music [glöplog]
I'm pretty sure this would fly as fair use though.
Well it's kinda creative to use it like that :D
Haha I never noticed the source of those things in Frank's videos...
And yeah it probably would qualify as fair use since it's transformative, only utilized a brief segment and it certainly doesn't affect the market or status of the original work. There also are certainly be better cases to be made for copyright infringement in his videos than this.

Oh well, social media angry mob time.
I really don't see the problem. One thread down from here, demosceners are spreading DJ Mixes full of other people's work. How can that be OK and a video from some minor youtube celebrity not?
I propose the following ruleset:
- If Timbaland steals your work, it's bad
- If some guy produces entire records and liveshows full of Atari chiptune musicians and calls it his own, it's also bad
- If Deadmau5 steals 5 seconds of your work, transposed and rearranged, we discuss
- Else it's OK.
Should cover most cases, no?

Which is why Mixcloud is responsible for providing the royalties to the correct agencies.
I've studied this problem a bit more and I've come to the conclusion that pouet outrage over stolen demoscene material is a direct function of the perceived popularity of the person who uses the content.
This makes perfect ethical sense, in fact, was it not Immanuel Kant who said
If you dig deeper, you'll see that crediting factors in as a mitigating factor. If Filthy Frank would've credited Conspiracy it would've probably been ok, since he's just a minor youtube celebrity. However, if Tempest and GRG had been listed inside the little album booklet of that Nelly Furtado album, it wouldn't have mattered much right, unless they'd been sent some fat checks too.
So then the function becomes something like:
I'm open to improvements here, but to me this makes perfect sense! Screw the whole Kopimi movement, this should be new copyright law! Someone call the Pirate Party.

what matters is awareness, not outrage or vengeance. As long as people publish stuff, that stuff is at risk of being appropriated.

Hahaha, is there any part they didn't use? :D
I'm assuming it's legit though, since Zoom has a brief cameo:

They also borrowed some footage from TRSAC:

I think that would be something that Gargaj would be into :)
I recognized the track, does that count?

If you're going to link to a 40 minute long video of short VJ-style clips, a timecode is prudent.
That dude will never stop ripping off demoscene content, might as well stop posting him in this thread tbh.
