Nice but He should rather build that FPGA computer Parallelogram.
With amazing FM synth and kickass graphics and music tracker...
As handheld device...
For portable chiptunes I have GBA, DS and OpenPandora...
But still there is place for FM handheld...

Parallelogram

People do what they do, and that's the only thing they should do.

1in10 I just hated that the first answer I get to someone making something cool is that they should do something else. Why are people trying to boss other people around all the time? This sucks

^ +1 bossing is easier than diy.
i myself dislike this consumer driven music toy culture which has been lowering the standards of music gear the last 10 years.
it only produces shit that one would do better with free software and some work or things that are old tech packaged anew
even for kids i think old pc would be better toy than something ready-made.

1in10, how did you get into music in the first place?
What made you see the computer as a place to make music in?

I like the concept of the original set of Pocket Operators a lot, and these are cool too. I wonder how attractive the chiptune sounds are to majority of people, but at least they're different and cheap. I'm a guitar guy, but I like the music toy culture a lot.

Having standards for what counts as music is an outdated concept anyway. Do whatever you like and listen to whatever you enjoy.

As for the Pocket Operators, I think they're cute little devices, but considering they lack MIDI, they're not really for me. I'll stick with the Korg Volca series for my on-the-go synth needs ^^

still prevailing today. quite prominent in demoscene.
its part of the validation culture.
and you are twisting my meaning. i never said anything about music. i was talking about music gear.

agreed.

i don't do music inside a computer. let's get that clear.
i get the feeling you are fishing for argument.
these were my opinions. if you don't like em you are free to ignore em/me.

1in10, well no, see I was actually interested. I happen to work at a company that makes software and hardware for musicians.

fair enough.

only thing i have been craving for is software in which notes and audio are handled equal/the same without sampler plug-in. like the arrangement is the sampler and instrument.
notes are regions and regions notes.

that in a hardware that never gets os upgrades from apple, which are not backwards compatible, would be perfect.
