@party 2016
category: parties [glöplog]
It is our pleasure to invite you to @party 2016!
This is the 7th annual @party and we’re moving two miles down the road to Artisan’s Asylum in Somerville, MA USA. The new venue is more laid back than our previous sites and will allow us to return to three full days of scheduled programming from Friday June 3rd through Sunday June 5th with doors open ’round the clock.
The room will have a permanently installed sound system and bigscreen comparable in size to the party system of the past three years and you’re welcome to consume meals and refreshments at your computer place. You can’t sleep here though, so please make arrangements for a hotel or roomshare if you don’t intend to stay awake for three days straight. Registration will be up this week or next week at the latest, stay tuned.
We’ve also already begun scheduling live acts for Friday and Saturday and seminar presentations for all three days. Stay tuned for further details or contact us if you’re interested in presenting or performing as there are still some time slots available.
Thank you, and we hope to see you at @party 2016!

Aaand here's the link to our site: atparty-demoscene.net
is there still a Chipotle nearby the new location?
There isn't a super close Chipotle but there are lots of locally owned restaurants within walking distance. Also due to the frequent food deliveries we get here, delivery drivers know their way.
Cool! As a makerspace, this looks like a good fit. I will try to be there at least one day.
Hurrah!

New compos this year:
- Shader Compo - Low barrier to entry, Shadertoy-compatible shader coding.
- VR Compo - We should have at least one of each major headset on-site. Apply your graphics skills to these state of the art platforms!
- Freestyle Interactive Compo - Basically any hardware / software system somebody can interact with be it a game, interactive demo, animatronic sculpture, etc.
WHAT.
I JUST BOOKED TICKETS TO THIS THING.
Operation Take Back My Goddamn Life From My All-Consuming Job is in motherfucking progress.
Just thought you all should know.

Compo Machine Uuuuuupgrade!
i5-2400 -> i7-377K
4GB RAM -> 16GB RAM
Radeon HD 6950 -> Radeon R9 Fury
Win7 32-bit -> Win10 64-bit
Fun Fact: When I took the new graphics card out of the box I was so astounded by how heavy it was that I grabbed the closest thing at hand for a comparison. So yes, just in case you were wondering, the new graphics card is heavier than a C=64.
Come to @party to witness the power of this fully upgraded and operational compomachine!
May the 4th be with you!

DrClaw nice!
I see on the specs page the resolution is 1920 x 1080p (60 Hz, I presume :) ). Could you tell me the approximate physical size of the projected image on the bigscreen and distance from the screen to the front/back of the viewing area? Thanks!

Cool ! I will register and come for sure as I live nearby !
Hi cxw,
Yes, the projector will be running at 60Hz. The projected image will be approximately 16 feet by 9 feet and the room is about 45 feet deep. I expect most people will be sitting between 10 feet and 30 feet from the screen.

Also thanks to everybody that's registered thus far!
Just an FYI for anybody who is planning to come but hasn't registered yet, please do it! The more people that register as soon as they know they're coming, the sooner we know if we have any extra budget for "nice to have" stuff like snacks, pizza, materials to make fancy trophies, etc.
Thanks!

Registered. I didn't see an input field for handle this time around. Will there be a list/count of attendees on the website?
[✓] oldschool music entry.
[✓] gfx compo entry
[ ] other music compo entry
[ ] unspecified intro/democompo entry
Question: how will ASCII/ANSI art be shown, and in what display mode? Mine is 80x50.

The plan is to use Sahli for ASCII/ANSI like they use at Revision: https://github.com/lastebil/Sahli/blob/master/README.md
phoenix, unfortunately not including handles in registration was an oversight this year. At this point we're not 100% on a reg name to handle name mapping and we won't know how many Artisan's Asylum members will show up (they can come and go as they please w/out reg, part of the deal to get the space) so we unfortunately can't provide an accurate count either. Mostly I'd just encourage any veteran sceners who want to advertise their imminent presence to post in this channel, demoparty.net, and social media if that's your thing.
Orgas, I'd like to email you- is bostondemoscene at gmail the address to use? Thanks!
