64k synths
category: music [glöplog]
so what 64k's do we have nowadays?? (for public use that is.)
Mine is here, in the form of a bunch of Buzz plugins: http://rpc.gehennom.org/stuff/padsyn_player_synth_220603.zip
Make a song with those Buzz machines, and only those machines, and... send it to me so that I can wrap it in an .exe - not very practical, but works.

Public synths aimed at 64k that I know of:
V2
Tunefish
Sanestation
404
Not sure how many people are aware but there is now a music shader feature on shadertoy. Basically you can write synth code in a shader and the output gets sent to an audio buffer. There are some things you can't do easily or at all due to the limitations of shadercode and not having access to a buffer of previous output and it's a pain to sequence, but it is a fast and easy way to get into the very basics of sound synthesis if you are a beginner. Just experimenting with simple things like different oscillators, modulation, envelopes and filtering is fun.
Anyway it's fun and easy to do and could maybe be ported to an asm or c code synth later if you wanted.

some experiments with modal "banded" waveguide synthesis:

combining different synthesis methods is fun :D

64klang2 seems to be turning quite interesting, hope it'll get released soon
http://www.pouet.net/prod.php?which=55595 was designed with 64K prods in mind. I'm not sure the player code was ever made to fit the size limit, however (and certainly not with current C++ compilers I have at hand...)
Warning: exotic OS required (but the player was ported to OSX)

PulkoMandy, would be cool to see a windows port :)
Feel free to do it, the code is open source :)
Wow cool.
Virgill: Mad skillz!
sir spamalot with an orchestral approach in 64k music.

Cool stuff Virgill, kinda vangelis vibe. That synth sounds really impressive for a size synth. Very rich sounds, love the choir patch. Any plans to use it in a demo?
This is sweet indeed, I wish its finally used in a recent prod :) Would be so cool to see in action.
Working on it :)
whats the 404 64k synth ?

I guess that's why he called it "404".
BeRo has been notified and updated the link on the offiical plugin page; Pouet link change awaits approval. Until then: br404 download
