I received my nomination certificate yesterday. Thank you very much!

I know people discussed here various things that need to happen to make the awards more credible, including better jury selection. With the names of Shadow, Visy and Kylearan on the jury, I feel confident that the issue is not very relevant, at least for the Oldschool Intro.

I want to stress that the DUB awards are very much like the Eurovision in that the committee votes for whatever makes them laugh the most. So right on Baudsurfah but please dont conflate a serious venture like the meteoriks with a bunch of tequila-hit Danes shouting over old Bonnie Tyler songs from youtube.

introspec: and what names were you expecting to see there?
Maali, I did not expect anyone in particular.

the jury is pretty much determined by whoever actually gives enough hoot to watch through a selection of demos. now, the timing was a bit short notice for this year's meteoriks. and, don't underestimate that you're actually asking people to do stuff for it, a jury member doesn't pull an opinion out of his arse in 10 seconds, at least, i hope he doesn't but watches a lot of demos, and prepares his judgment. i believe it was also one of the reasons the scene.org awards was becoming more and more a pain in the ass to organise (tho their process was even more reliant on jury activity as the jury selected nominations as well) as it isn't as 'easy' as outsiders expect it is. so, sign up next year for the jury if you think it can go better! ;)
I do not think I would be a good guy for the jury. Just like smash said, I'm just a guy from Pouet. No reputation to bring to the table = no added credibility for the award.

I think you misunderstood the context within which I made my comment. I had no intention to criticize the jury that nominated my prod or any other jury for that matter (I really am not qualified to have serious opinions outside of ZX Spectrum). I just said that I believe the jury that selected my prod to be very credible.

what smash said it true. and for this year hopefully. there's enough credible people attending revision, also plenty with a good heart towards the demoscene, so perhaps with a bit more time this year to organise this event, the jury can be improved. doesn't stop you from jurying tho, i rather have a former nominee or winner signing off my certificate than ye average famous $demoscener :)
Besides jurymembers there is always room for video-editors.

Well, I guess that the nominees are generally the 'biggest hits' of that year, so any reasonably active (sofa)scener would probably already have seen at least a few of these productions before.

That does not apply to some categories at all, and does not strictly have to apply to any category at all. There are many gems being overlooked which deserve (and did indeed get) a nomination.
indeed. mostly applies for sub-categories 'best graphics' or 'best direction' or whatever where the whole package is not judged but one particular aspect. one could argue that such arbritary categoriees can be omitted.. then the 'biggest hits'-approach or even pouet scores for 'best demo', 'best 64k' etc will work. then again, it used to be the charm of the scene.org awards that productions were judged and not picked based on popularity. :)

=the finnish sceners (mostly the helsinki based ones) rent a clubhouse for years already and hang out there frequently. so they watch demos there too and cast votes.
Got ours too !
