Hoffman - Serenity : Album Out Now

category: music [glöplog]
My album Serenity is now available on pre-release directly from the Slime Shop!. At 4 quid, I'd say thats a bargain! It will be available from other digital stores next week and on CD sometime around mid-march.

Got it now, great Album! Everyone should buy it.

One little criticism tho: why is it so hard for digital download paltforms to make a nice archive for download?

read:
- a meaningful folder name (unlike SLM127)
- leading tracknumbers in the filenames (although the files are tagged fine)
- also bundling the press-release as .docx is fine, but it would look better if the .tmp file word creates wouldnt be inside the archive (but hey, at least now i know .docx is just a zipped up bunch of xml files)

All this isnt a showstopper and in the end its about the music (which, again, is excellent!) but it makes me wonder why the mp3 release scene and its dusty old rules and standards are still miles ahead of online stores.

Even better: PDF instead of DOCX.

Will buy it once it's out on Bandcamp.

There is never an excuse for docx.

Besides this: Hooray new music by Hoffman! Way more important than proprietary file-formats :)

Was listening to the previews on Soundcloud. This is a seriously good album. Especially "Think About the Time" which blew me away. Will be buying shortly.

I'd be all over a vinyl release, should that happen to occur sometime in the near future. (Please?)

My bad its SLM129 ;)
and yes im aware that its the catalogue number but who does sort his music collection like that (except labels and hopeless completionists, obviously)?

Catalogue number is okay as long as it's not the only thing in the name (e.g. "SLM129 Hoffman - Serenity" would be sane).

So, bandcamp? ;)
I should have some CD's before Revision, will donate some for the compos if you want DFox.

i know im nitpicking here but i would strongly prefer "Hoffman - Serenity (SLM129)" (or something) to not fuck with the directory sorting.
everybody has a slightly different method of organizing their media of couese, so there probably is no perfect solution that fits anybody (although just the cat. number seems close to the worst).
anyway, i think we made our point and i dont wanna turn this into a uncalled for bitching thread either - in the end its just about the pakaging and not the product (but imagine you could buy a cd with a perfectly printed, nice and informative booklet for 2 euros on the blackmarket or the same cd with a cheap printed b/w inlay in the record store for 15 euros...).

Andy from the label asked me to post this up for you guys.

"Thanks for all your input, we're always looking for feedback on how to improve things, and will make sure press releases are in PDF format from now on and that we categorise the .rar files in a clearer way - but above all thanks for supporting this release and Hoffman's music!"

Also, Slime doesn't have a Bandcamp, but I'll be uploading it myself there at some point very shortly.

And lastly, if you would like a Wav copy of the album, simply email your purchase confirmation to Slime and Andy will send you over a copy.
