kaneel: with what do you compress the tracks and eq? :)
I got rid of ALL outboard gear, got really fed up with all the wires...

@legend: I said "no VSTi", not "no VST"… but still, "my music" remains pretty "dry" on VST usage; EQs, some delay / reverb sends, and perhaps some Valhalla DSP magic. but that's all, I promess :)
OK here goes! This was a detached single car garage that a previous owner connected the house via a conservatory and covered corridor. I converted it by putting in a loft, which houses plastic boxes with a lot of my books/cds and dvds. I insulated & isolated/soundproofed the walls, ceiling and floor. The room I created has multiple uses, and is used as a home cinema, as a guitar practice/recording space and for general computer usage and chilling. Overall dimensions are 230cm by 350cm (or 7 1/2ft by 11 1/2 ft).

Here's what you see when you open the door.

From Left to Right. Cheap Bass, Marlin Sidewinder (80s strat copy used for playing slide), Squier Vintage Modified SSH Telecaster, MIK 95 Standard Stratocaster, MIK 95 Standard Telecaster, 'Jim Deacon' Electro-Acoustic, Classical.
The electro-acoustic gets the most use as I jam with a couple guys one night a week and we all use acoustics.

The heart of everything is the Soundcraft Compact 10 Channel Mixer. Super versatile and can provided phantom power for a mic, 2 channels can take input from a record deck (including riaa reversal), and even guitar inbuilt DI, and anything else I chuck at it. the recording output goes into the recording interface I point out in the next image. the monitor output goes into the main hi-fi amp.
custom ikea-hacked furniture with Technics SL-2000 direct drive turntable and a Technics EQ.
BB Image

2 PC's. One on left is purely for running remote debug if writing code or has a webserver when doing that kind of thing.
I use Mixcraft to record. Thought I'd chuck the controller keyboard in the image since this is a studio thread but it doesn't get much use (notice the dust!)
Take note of the matt silver device at the back left hand corner of the keyboard (to the right of the shiny silver glasses case/left of the GP32) thats a RCA->USB recording interface.
Boing ball from a now closed witchcraft shop and a rubiks cube.. The shelves above this area are filled with gfx programming books, those can be made out in a later pic.
BB Image

Amps: Fender Champion 600 "Little Blondie" Reissue (Which I've upgraded with Tungsol valves), Roland Cube 20X, cheap bass amp (on the floor)
Pedals.. on custom built board. so it'll tuck under that ikea table :)
Top left: Radial Big Shot 'ABY' allows me to split signal to hear via amp and still output to play rocksmith,
Top right: EHX LBP-1. A straight booster, need this with the newer rocksmith for it to pick up the bass.
Middle: - danelectro cool cat fuzz v2.
bottom right: Digitech Bad Monkey Overdrive
bottom left: digitech hardwire series rv-7 reverb (bought to get that spring reverb when playing muted notes for surf stuff :))
far right - wah pedal.

newest toy, a condensor mic. so clear, awesome for recording acoustic guitar or vocals. (not that I can sing)
vintage wooden trunk contains various guitar parts, there's a project vintage MIJ strat copy in bits behind it, and the grande lava lamp in the background under which is another trunk containing my vinyl collection.
BB Image

Here's what I see when watching movies. door goes to the remaining storage space at the front of the garage (where the big metal door is, which is disconnected and blocked so it doesn't open anymore, but it can if needed)
the other door to the left of where I sit has a window in, and its got a black out blind over it.
xbox 360, blu-ray player. 5.1 dts/dolby digital amp.
hacked ikea-table to house centre speaker, sub and left speaker in dead space under computer desk. other speaker in similar position on the right.
oil filled radiator with thermostat keeps it from dippign too low, the other heater gets the room heated quick if needed.
BB Image

and where i'm sat when watching with the rear speakers above me. i ran the cabling for the rears when building the room.

contents of bookcase nicely sorted.

knl: Nice ATC-1! :] Do you use that lovely looking plant for your music, too?
I'll see if I can post a picture later this week when my Roland U-220 arrives (:

@freezedream: Ah, the plant moved, but it was actually quite cool to have it next to "the stuff" you know; That's the kind of thing that happen when you're sharing the "studio" room with the couple bedroom :)
And yes, nice ATC-1, you can't use it ALL THE TIME but when you need something that need a slow and lazy analog curve, be sure it's one interesting weapon. I wish I could put my hands on the ARP2600 cartridge, I only own the Moog one.
@freezedream: you'll love this pic… behold THE CATVIA NORD RACK.
BB Image
@knl: yeah, I like plants next to stuff too, but don't have any at the moment - no plants nor stuff. :/ Ah yes, the Catvia Nord Rack - always has the element of surprise.
^^ That cat is clearly hiding some heinous act. It's putting on an innocent face but I'm not fooled.

Canopy: it's a custom made by a small Finnish luthier, I actually traded the Jaguar in the other pic for it :) It's got Tonerider Surfari TRS5 pickups, Wilkinson hardware and the neck and the body are custom made and nitro lacquered. It's very Fifties, very classic, smooth and light to play and it has the lovely classic stratocaster jangle. I'm loving it to bits. I also got a Japanese Fender Jazzmaster (lollar pickups, mastery bridge), a Japanese Fender '62 Tele reissue and Gibson Les Paul Studio that's tuned down to D. Now all I need is a bass, a good acoustic... and some more delay pedals :)

Your white Strats are beautiful. That's the very specific colour combination that I would like, but having the body refinished would be expensive and it would lose the nice dings that it already has.

Thanks :)

You have some some nice gear!

This lot hasn't really cost me a lot, I picked up most of it second hand apart from the telecaster SSH. The marlin sidewinder only cost me £20 but I had to put in some work to clean it up. Its used for slide as one of the frets is a bit bumpy and its not worth the effort. I was surprised to find that even the telecaster on the right is "arctic white". I paid £50 for that one! :)

I've picked up a lot of guitars that needed work and learned to fix them, then sold and traded. Next project is a chunky necked japanese strat copy (maple neck again!) I picked up for £10. It has a very weighty trem block. Someone had already stripped it back to bare wood, i'm going to finish it in surf green, have a pearloid guard and, a push pull switch and a splittable hotrail to go in it :) Will be putting a custom decal on it and set of flatwounds on it to go full surf :)

This was where my left monitor stand was and where my 19" rack system on Wheels used to be BB Image

Here, my right monitor stand used to be, and slightly to the left of Pooh, the two screens used to be on my corner-desk
BB Image

In this place, the right most part of the desk would be. Here, I had the midi-keyboard easy accessible and easy to reach. Slightly to the right of the stack of Honey jars, a stand with aYamaha AN1x used to be.
BB Image

In the back of the room, a couple of tall lamps provided a nice and comfortable indirect light, so working with music was always a nice and comfortable thing. This was also where my tall cabinet of excess cables, plugs and stuff used to be.
BB Image

So ... for the next 18 years or so, my gear is relocated to a rather crammed corner in the living room. I'm SO gonna be a dad soon! :-p

Various stuff:
Novation Supernova
Roland JP-8080
Novation Bass Station
Roland MC-303 (Lug00ber won this in the acid compo at TRSAC this year!) :D
Access Virus C Desktop
Some RK6-monitors, a noname midi keyboard and some not-present old synths ;)

Punqtured: Drooling over the rack! Congrats! I'm so glad I wanted a separate space when we shacked up, not one of the spare rooms for all my stuff! :)

Any chance of a garden cabin/shed, garage or loft conversion for you down the line?

@legend: this pic. this pic. this pic.
BTW KAWAI K4? Seriously? It's kawai K3 or K1 mkII… but K4?

While digging through my picture archive I found one of my workspace (I wouldn't call it a studio) where it wasn't insanely messy, so here it is. What it doesn't show is the second half, which has my vinyl collection + 2x SL1210's and a NI Z2 mixer. Also not pictured are the selection of guitar pedals, the TB-303, the patch panel and a few other pieces of outboard gear.

Oh, and since people list the visible stuff as well: TR-909, Minibrute, Juno-106, PC running Windows 8, Event Tuned Reference 8XL studio monitors, Novation SL49 MK2 MIDI keyboard, 2x 27" 2560x1440 monitors. There's also an Access Virus B rack module which I forgot on the previous post.
