Evoke 2014 - August 8 - 10 in cologne/köln

category: parties [glöplog]
ah nice! hot :)
(i can't eat prefab oven pizza without that stuff anymore :D)
T$: we just wanted to show that we actually DO care about how musicians get their money and wanted to support an alternative. i know that this does nothing for evokes (and other demoparties) troubles with gema, but maybe it gives a hint to some people.

@steam: In the long term if C3S succeeds in gaining a remarkable role it pretty likely will improve the situation. The problem is less GEMA itself but the fact that it is a monopoly backed by laws which turn otherwise common legal rules upside down (most notably the "GEMA Vermutung"), and it is likely that breaking that monopoly will also result in revised rules.

What I want to point out is that joining C3S won´t automagically change the situation for musicians taking place in competitions or providing live acts.
And the most important fact is that the GEMA isn´t active by default but only as soon as GEMA members are involved:
In the end it is still up to the musicians to decide whether the financial benefit of having a contract with GEMA is worth all the drawbacks or not, and you can do so already right now.

Remember the times when you registered for a demoparty not on the net beforehand, but at the spot on a piece of paper? We have digitised Evoke's old guestbooks from 1999, 2003 and 2012, so you can have a look at the funny doodles and adventurous handles. We hope to see you signing up this year too!

BLEEP STREET LABELNIGHT @ EVOKE!

BB Image

BLEEPSTREET Records, the label that gave you Computadora (Evoke 2013) and DJ Storno (Evoke 2010 + 2011), have something very special planned for this year's Evoke. For the whole Friday night, they will have the outdoor area for themselves to bang your ears and move your feet with chip tech vibes! Several international BLEEPSTREET artists are going to give their best - keep your eyes open for the line-up to be announced next week!

since there's a smoking ban on parties for some years now, is vaping allowed inside?

I´d like to know aswell! ;)
E-Cigarettes ;)
It´s allowed in German Pubs now thanks to some pub-owner in Cologne! :)
It´s only Water-Steam, so i wonder why it should NOT be allowed anywhere at all! ;) The Nicotine (if any) doesn´t get back into Air when breathing out. And the Smell is normally nice, Cola-Citron in my case...could be strawberry or vanilla or whatever.
fart flavour is allowed inside!
I've heard it cures cancer.

Smoking ecigs in the hall makes it seem smoking is allowed in the hall and then other people light regular cigs and the orgos need to actively tell people to smoke outside and blah blah.

Just walk outside if you smoke something.

JEROBEAM FENDERSON LIVE

While the BLEEPSTREET line-up is still in the making, we are proud to announce another exciting live act: Jerobeam Fenderson from Graz (Austria). Jerobeam Fenderson visualizes electronic sounds and noise patterns with an analogue oscilloscope. In an attempt to get the closest possible correlation of image and sound, these compositions are not only designed for their aural components, but also take into account their shape, as the oscilloscope shows an exact representation of the physical waveforms. For more info and sounds, see our events page.

We started to announce the first seminars. Two seminars to look forward to have already been announced:

The C3S is the "next generation collecting society" that everyone has been waiting for. The C3S might become an alternative to GEMA one day. I recommend this seminar to every musician who is looking for other ways to have his royalties collected than just becoming a member of GEMA.

The seminar by Dr. Fasih Sayin (his Ph.D thesis was about the role of the audience in interactive narratives) will take a look at the two classic demos Hardwired and Odyssey. This will be fun :)
