does ZX Spectrum platform needs to be subdivided?
category: general [glöplog]
@rutra80, there is nothing "enhanced" about many of these clones. The Pouet categories are not compatibility guidelines (+3 is not compatible with older models, but it is not indicated). They are more to do with the relative feature sets, so that demos can be compared fairly. At least this is my understanding.
Considering that PC is a lot more varied than speccy, yet only has a 2 (maybe? Dos/win anyway) categories, no.
If you want to know what works on what model, it'd be handy to have some compatability tags or something (requires 128KB, AY etc.). Same would help on PC.
And if you want that to happen, click here.

pouët.net definitely needs a separate "FPGA" platform.
I recently came up with an idea on how to solve the "compatibility / system requirements / etc" issue; I'm gonna run it through a few people (e.g. as soon as Gasman starts answering his email :) and see where it goes.
Gargaj, I strongly recommend ignore any statements of windbags and keep one's ears open to the opinions respected people, for example — Diver.
ZX Spectrum need to be subdivided by the memory and has only classic screen (6912):
— ZX Spectrum 16k
— ZX Spectrum 48k
— ZX Spectrum 128k
— ZX Spectrum Enhanced (All other clones with non standard graphics modes).
And no exceptions for any ATM, Scorpion GMX, Profi, Sprinter and other mutants with!

I wonder why diver changed his opinion after 9 people agreed with him and he've drawn the icons.
Алончик, ты - зануда:)
9 голосов ничего не решают:)))

That separation between 16k and 48k is a bit useless IMO, as the only difference is the amount of memory and the 16k is a marginal platform in any case.
It seems obvious that last ZX has been produced in the mid 80s. Everyone's tired arguing with fanatic who lack his recognition.
Pouet admin guys, I ask you to make the categories like:
- ZX,
- enhanced ZX.
And move every prod with video mode other than 6912 out of ZX category.
Thank you for understanding.

ZX Spectrum must have rubber keyboard and British plug, sure.
does ATM have one?)
Yeah, couldn't we subdivide into those Spectrum models that have rubber keyboard, and those that have a plastic keyboard on top of the rubber keyboard? That should be enough.
Muhahah! :)
Muhahah! :)
what kind of SAD BULLSHIT is all of this.
you jerks are forbidden to type here anything unless you do it from IBM PC XT with Intel 8088 @ 4.77 MHz.
if you don't that turn off your not original abomination, morons, and trash it at once.
also, original PC had no internet access, so your computers aren't pc and there was even no internet back in the day, so the net cards are ILLEGAL additions to all modern computers because it makes them NOT original pc.
shtako.
okey, you go back to your cesspool.

what i think is that such amazing and exciting scene as retro is shouldn’t have such conflicted discussion - i think that we should count with all possibilities and combinations, and consider/respect/encourage all initiatives to expand the zx-spectrum world - for me wouldn’t be that weird having another zx-spectrum using v9990 for displaying or something like that
another thing i’m seeing now: seeing the Sinclair history, ZX-Spectrum was almost to be a machine also sold in electronic kits, just like ZX-80 and ZX-81 (even as a kid, i would prefer to buy a kit version than a built one, for example) - so i guess we should count with expandability and evolution of ZX-Spectrum, just like Sam-Coupé also was one of them?
One is clear now, 1991-1993's clones such as ATM Turbo can't be in one class with 2012's FPGA. We can put ATM Turbos in "enhanced" or "modern" Spectrum, we can split and join different 128s, but FPGA can contain anything (including things impossible to attach to real Spectrum or Amstrad or MSX) and so it is not only a Spectrum, it is not a retro platform at all.

Welcome to ZX Spectrum that is spelled without a hyphen.

You can connect a modem to a serial port, and dial-up connections still exist.
You can connect a GeneralSound to ZX port, and a ZX demo still works, but with Amiga MOD music.
That's what he meant.
It is still PC, it is still Spectrum. Obviously.
